350 lbs/ft is the correct torque spec for the flywheel nut.

my buddy puts the engine in without the mounts on it and then bolts the mounts up in the car, that way you arent trying to get the mounts to pop in and get the engine to go into the tranny at the same time.

impact gun on the flywheel has always worked for us even though the spec is 350lbs/ft

I used a chisel once before I got an impact, but lately, the impact has worked great.

j9fd3s is right about not wanting both mounts on the car when trying to join it to the tranny. I usually leave one on (driver's side) and the other off when installing my motors and then put in the other, underneath after the motor is mounted to the tranny. This way seems to work well on fisrt and second gen's.

Oh and that flywheel bolt needs to be torgued to 360 foot pounds so you may want to eat your Wheaties before you tighten that down.

P.S. I always use a little lock-tight on all these nuts and bolts just in case.

I got the flywheel nut off but can't get the ******* flywheel off. I tried 3 different pullers and 2 huge prybars.

I'm about to say **** getting the flywheel resurfaced.

just put the puller on the flywheel, and with it preloaded as much as you can do with your puller, smack the flywheel on it's edges with a dead blow hammer. It should pop right off.

Keep the nut threaded on a few turns before you do this, so it keeps the flywheel from shooting off and landing on your foot.
