I've been hearing about these kinds of ideas for as long as I've been into rotaries, but I haven't heard of anyone actually doing any of it.
Since we're bench-racing machining ideas (bench machining?) I wonder about taking corner seals for 2mm seals, machine only the outer half for 3mm, then take one-piece 3mm seals and cut .5mm deep grooves in each side. That way, the corner seal is retained by the apex seal.
Wear might be an issue.

that seems more easier to do, err less hard, or something
