Arguably, more than one rotor introduces problems. How many 2 rotor engines do you see with full eccentric shaft support? Not too many, at least not without throwing money at a stock Mazda engine.

The "extended" 13B shaft with keyed, slip-on sections at either end looks to be the best application for a 4 rotor engine offering the most support across the entire e-shaft. The screw together style shaft (basicallly bolting two motors together) leaves a great many rough areas in the engine, not only in the shaft but coolant and oil passages.

the only way i see being able to do a 5,6,7,etc engine without bolting multiple engines together is to do a multi-peice shaft with journal supports/bearings in each intermediate houseing ( think V-8 crankshaft bearings). Other than a "can it be done" aspect... i see no reason for it.

hurley never built the 6 rotor. Someone in NZ has worked out exactly how to build the eccentric to make this work, but, like the short block 3 rotors is only really suitable for PP applications. However a PP 6 rotor should be able to get well towards 900HP.
The Hurley 3 rotor was an interesting one. It never seemed to bother them that the centre housing had 2 primary ports. Certainly no evidence they ever did any flow testing to see what the differences were or that they tuned the centre carb differently. Still it did work on at least 1 car.

If you can connect 2 motor together, why not get 2 787B (4 rotor). That's the only way I see a 8 rotor and how long do you think it would be.
