kinda a late. Price of tool times the number of rebuilds you do and then how many new bearing needs pressing vs packing shipping to someone who has that bearing press disk.

I have a bearing removal tool. it is a peice of chromemolloy pipe that is the exact diameter of the rotor (for rotor bearings)

I let a buddy of mine that runs a chassis shop press bearings in for me. For the 10 bucks its easier to just run the 10 min to his shop and have him do it. I am also paranoid that I will find a way to **** it up.

I bought the tools from mazdatrix and had a press. I changed all my bearings on my rebuild. Not that hard. I used dry ice to shrink them a little prior to pressing them in

a freezer for the bearings and an oven or boiling water( not open flame ) for the gears or rotors work too just ya only got one shot at it.

Rotor and main bearing clearance has been a mystery to me for 25 years. I have no idea what it is supposed to be. From building piston race engines, where .003" for the rods, and .0035" to .004" for the main bearings is just fine, it sounds like .004" for a bearing that big should be be good.

Do you think its too big or not big enough, and what is the spec?
