how long can an engine last.. at low rpms with very little oil? enough for the pressure gauge to move... but low enough not to show up on the dip stick

3.5 qt's is a lot of oil.

Did the oil that was coming out look shiney (like it has shiney metallic flakes in it) at all??

seemed like since the oil was coming from teh feed line for the turbo, it just took wahtever was in the oil pan and spit it out. so i figure that while i kept the engine moving the oil in the rotors, lines, cooler, were still there.

when i added about 2 qts of oil when i finally stopped my car... and started the car to have it circulate and park the car... black oil came out, to me that means that the fresh oil didnt cirulate yet, but a good quart was left on the ground by just starting the car (the oil pressure went up to about 90psi when i restarted the car)
