how long can an engine last.. at low rpms with very little oil? enough for the pressure gauge to move... but low enough not to show up on the dip stick

How much did you add to get it to the correct level?

FikseRxSeven 02-07-2005 06:32 PM

about 3.5 qts..... driven roughly about 2 miles, by the time i stopped the car the oil was still leaking oil.

3.5 qt's is a lot of oil.

Did the oil that was coming out look shiney (like it has shiney metallic flakes in it) at all??

FikseRxSeven 02-07-2005 06:38 PM

seemed like since the oil was coming from teh feed line for the turbo, it just took wahtever was in the oil pan and spit it out. so i figure that while i kept the engine moving the oil in the rotors, lines, cooler, were still there.

when i added about 2 qts of oil when i finally stopped my car... and started the car to have it circulate and park the car... black oil came out, to me that means that the fresh oil didnt cirulate yet, but a good quart was left on the ground by just starting the car (the oil pressure went up to about 90psi when i restarted the car)

well.. the oil outside on my street didnt have any shiney flakes, but i was in such a panic that when i cleaned it, i didnt bother to put my head down to the ground... but no i dont remember seeing glitters

3.5qts is alot. honestly its hard to say if anything is fucked or not.

Just pray...

i didnt notice any metal flakes either. give it an oil change and see how it looks.

well there is a lot of brand new oil in the car, so what ill do is replace the filter and cut it open... hopefully nothing in there will surpise me
