Learning To Port

I want to teach myself how to port my own engine. I was told i should practice on a piece of wood. I already have a dremel, what type of bits do i need to put on it, or is there a better way?

I like my craftsman rotary tool you could go for a die grinder but your more likely to make some mistake with it since it cuts so fast. as far as practicing on wood thats just to get the feel for the tool once you get that down move to some junk housings. i would buy a template just so you get an idea of the shape of the port then work on shaping the inside of the port this is where you really need to concentrate other wise you will go strait through into the water jacket, its also where you are going to see you power come from. jus read as much as you can and practice a hell of alot

i got the one that goes up to 35,000 rpms and is ajustable it also came with a pencel thingie for $30 it was marked down big time and has a life time warranty 
die grinders are better if you know how to use them but either will work its all up to you

i donno how many engines u plan on portign with those dremels or teh craftsman rotary tools, but u will soon find out they dont last that long, maybe two engines, what works great are air grienders but u need a compressor to do that and a decsent one at that sinc eu want to not run out of breath every 10 seconds.

the dremel is a temporary thing, one day i'll get around to getting a decent air compressor and port with that. I'm just saying that I need to get some practice in with something besides my own motor, I'm sure everyone is farmiliar with a tight budget.
