Hey, I'm doing a similar project. GSL-SE rotors and front weight with RX-8 shaft and gears.

I just need to confirm I understand what's going on before purchasing the Renesis parts. Can I use the whole GSL-SE thrust assembly?

If I were you, I would re-evaluate your component selection, you are putting the heaviest rotor with a lighter e-shaft and also getting stuck with the 3mm seals. Are you trying to stick into some kind of racing class guidline or just trying to use what rotors you have?..The oddball mixture you have there is not great in terms of taking advantage of factory balancing and bearing clearancing for raised rpm.

You can use the larger rew/rx8 thrust bearings with any counterweight you want with a simple machining operation.

Thanks for the info. The guy whom I'm doing this project for wanted an RX-8 shaft because it's new and cool. I was unsure of whether it would even work correctly with heavy rotors etc. He certainly didn't want to fork over the cash for a pair of S5 or Renesis rotors only to have them machined to accept taller 2mm seals.

We've decided to go with GSL-SE rotors and a GSL-SE shaft. The stat gears will be new/hardened '76-'92 type. A light steel flywheel will replace the stock 30 pounder in his RX-4. The freshly resurfaced GSL-SE flywheel will go into my (soon to no longer be automatic) Cosmo.
