i want to either j-port/monster port or peripheral port an engine that i am building, i havent decided which yet. i love the rough idle and top end power of these ports im just wondering if you think these ports are well done or a bit homemade/rough and not worth looking at buying. im pretty much just looking for big n/a power, streetability really isnt an issue. cheers for your time

I see they ported holes into the coolant passage.. no big deal.. you could fix the holes.. I don't think is worth the headache.. your going to cut such a large chunk out the rotor housing to match the large port.. apex seal support gets taking away.. I have seen premature damage on the corners of the apex seals..
how much power are u looking for?

Don't even waste your time with a j port/monster port. They leak coolant eventually and like everyone else in nz you'll be using it in a street car. If you want to go that extreme go PP but if your more interested in what it sounds like at idle a primary bridgeport will sound no different to a j port or PP. Like Ito said, Rick Engman came up with the monster port for class racing that didn't allow peripheral ports. They were never intended for street use and in my experience can be high maintainence engines, much more so than a PP. If you want an extreme n/a street car I would recommend a PP. I have one in my daily driver and its very reliable.

ok cheers guys looks like a pp is the go. and as for how much power im looking for, as much as i can get really without spending too heavily on race type parts im not sure what a good pp would get horsepower wise i do want it to be competitive on the track. would it matter if i still used the original points dizzy setup with a pp? also whats a good choice of carb? i was thinking a 48mm IDA but open 2 suggestions.

I'd look at getting a 51 IDA weber for a p-port. I'm running a bridgeport on my primarys and a street port on the secondaries and i have the lumppy idle. Sounds like i have a cam thats too large in a V8. Oh i have a 48 IDA on my half bridge. i made 133 rwhp with a bad exhaust system, after i switch my exhaust system i'm hoping for close to the 140-150 rwhp mark. This fall the engine is comming out and i'm going full bridgeport with carbon seals. woot woot i want 200 or more at the wheels
