They might let you run in IHRA Pro-Mod!

Edit: They might let someone run it for you after you pay someone to build everything and pay someone to drive it.

If you actually want to have fun with this as a father / son thing, build a car following a proven path.

Even a three rotor is not legal in anything short of Pro Outlaw. You'd have to be ready to run an 8.0 to be competitive by the time you get this built.

I should've known this would come.

You damn right.

I said the same things as FD3Boost in your last thread but just put it more lightly...

What can you expect, when what you're thinking of doing is only based on your perception that "More rotors=more power" and not on how capable a 20b is or how you will even manage to tame that power or put it to good use!

The other's advice is important: Go 20b.

Although I would love to have the braggin rights of a 4 rotor, the cost is not really in the ballpark. I could get a decent 3rotor for $10k, the extra rotor adds at least another $10k. A bosted 3 rotor has more bang for the buck if you want my opinon. I priced it out once, the eshaft & center housings were $10k alone. You can get a 20b for about $3k, and rebuild it for a lot less, and still end up with decent hp.

however if you are still interested email jeff @ precisin@ihug.co.nz. He makes all the parts you need. Here's the parts list with old prices (copied from an email dated April 23 2004) in addition to two 13b's.

2. 4rotor crank assy NZ$3200 (includes special rear c/weight)

3. Centre housing modification for 3 or 4 rotor kits NZ$700 (2 req for 4

rotor)

5. Thru stud set (10mm) for 4 rotor NZ$195 (12mm also available)

8. Direct oil feed for 3/4 rotor kits centre housing NZ$90 (2 req for

4rotor)

This thread is no longer relevant as of this morning. We'll be going with a 3 because of the 4 being illegal in most (if not all) races. I'll start a thread on the project when we get an FD. (Should be in the next week or two.) If someone can delete this thread, please do.

Damn, ya'll came out like jackles. I know everyone is probally right though. It's not like we dont all have pipe dreams. Enjoy the three rotor thing. If my Pa & I went after the same sort o' thing it 'd be drag boats. I guess he raced for a while.Big whoop. One day when I start getting checks from the state lottery I'll have a 53' black air conditioned trailer/ tool room and some floor lifts behind a matching International cab, an Airstream to live in while on the road in the summer, unlimited money from my sponsers, crews from top teams lining up to get on the team, and perfect weather at every meet. You know, Utopia. Wankel was a dreamer, and a doer.

Actually, we're stripping the living hell out of the stock one. My dad's got backing from a guy who builds these cars (and some stock cars) for a living. I suppose the first thing we'll do is get rid of everything we'll not be using: seats, brakes, engine...etc. Everything will be out (and probably parted out to you guys) to give us some sort of approach. If anyone has any tips on other things to rid myself of or change out for lighter, let me know.

The NOPI series now allows 4-rotor engines. Pineapple Racing right here in the states has built 4-rotor engines.

Has one in stock now, an old school version with 12A parts, but you still have to open your wallet fairly wide to own it.
