Not an issue. They use this in road race cars. Remember, most of the combustion takes place in the bathtub. There's enough lip there to prevent direct flame front contact I'm assuming. I'm sure he clearances everything accordingly. It isn't a new technology, racers have been doing it for years. The lowly street guys (me included) just haven't been exposed to it.
