Well, here is my first housing. Just wanted to run it by you guys before I start on the next housing.

I polished the sleeve and ran the bottom of the exhaust port to the bottom of the sleeve.

The one thing I think I need to do is open the port more outwards to match the sleeve.

This is in my 91 TII.

Thanks!

Looks like you did a really good job. Is this your first one? BTW, where on the Mexican border are you from?

Looks very nice, try running an old apex seal across the port to make sure nothing is sticking up that will catch on them after you have the motor together

not a bad shape, but try giving the edges a bit of a radius.

Thanks guys...

It is my first time porting...on new housings...some of the most tedious stuff I have done on this car.

I will radius the edges more.

The reason I am building an engine is partly due to the fact the last engine builder didnt think re - chamfering the exhaust port was a good idea. DO NOT want to have same thing happen twice. My apex seal actually broke lengthwise .

if you do a search, i'm sure you'll find threads on the importance of the radius on the exhaust port.

try exhaust port, chamfer, radius, bevel, etc... you'll probably turn up what you need to know.

Also try 2mm 45° (or 45 degree) bevel.

I can see I need a little more chamfer on the sides of the port. Is that what you guys are talking about?

I read Itos exhaust porting write up...good stuff!

However, I really can't do much with the bottom of the port. It is a very smooth transision to the housing.
