Flushing Oil Passage

Recently I snapped the oil pressure sender(mushroom thing under filter) and drilled out the thread. I tapped a new thread but now need to flush out the metal filings. I know the passage goes down the iron then out at the side, does it also lead to the sump? Could any of the filings have found their way into the sump? Its the last job before I install the engine so I dont want to mess up tia

Take off the oil pan; unscrew the rear pressure reg. Flush vigorously.
