but what about reliability? would having the little lip between the two ports eat away the corner seals? how is it for power? about like a bridge?
Good reliability. Good power, as a "J" bridgeport. I ran the street port, and was not aware of this (Legal) version at the time.

The simple "T" shape was popular. You can leave a gap for the corner seal to step across so long as the gap is smaller than the seal. So there is great latitude in design. So there could be two or three areas where there was nothing at all in the way of flow. There were versions where it just looked like a corse comb along the outer port edge.

The long "Peninsula" from top and bottom. And a single or double "T" shape with a gap about 2/3 the diameter of the corner seal.

It is amazing what happens when many minds attack a problem.

I took some shots of a 12A going together, and some of the front stationary oiling system, and some of a rig to find TDC, and if required, mark the front case and pulley. I am not allowed to run my wife's computer at all so she will download the camera and give me a disc in the AM. If I have been a good boy that is.
