so, to be able to be fully tunable with AI, you need a way to adjust the duty cycle and size of the nozzle. why not use a small injector? honda i think use 220cc. by lowering the duty cycle and flow, wouldnt this be a much better, more tunable way to inject methanol?

my idea as i see it right now...

one low rate injector (220cc or smaller) mounted on a custom fuel rail made for the single injector.

one carburator in-line fuel pump (usually flow about 6-14psi)

a fuel regulator, to make sure the meth. is always in-line and doesnot suck air.

and a 3 gal fuel cell.

essentially, this would be a single injector, secondary set-up. but with meth instead of gas. im pretty sure a gas style injector will give more fine mist than AI nozzles. and with a standalone, tunabilty seems endless compared to current AI tuning.

discuss...

The atomization at low pressure through a gas injector will suck. One of the main reasons AI systems operate at higher pressures is for the atomization. A gas injector isn't going to do much better than this regardless of pressure though. http://fjoracing.com/products/waterinjecti...20Spray%203.wmv You'll need a pump one way or the other so you might as well go high pressure. And it's a whole lot easier to mount a single nozzle in a manifold than it is to try to put together an injector bung and a fuel rail.

If you want to control the system with PWM like a gas injector you can set it up with the solenoids like FJO uses. Vary the pulse width of the solenoid just like an injector. The solenoids draw about 1 amp so they'll be compatible with most injector drivers. Not sure about other systems but the Haltech E8/11 have an aux output function that is load v. rpm based and works perfectly for this purpose. Gives full independent control of AI injection.
