hi all i put together my second engine that i have built. Its a 13b rx4/5 style block. 3mm carbon seals.

and a s4/5 e shaft.this engine was going before hand but just stripped down ,ported and reasebled.i replace the shaft only.I didnt check for endplay as i had it going before.

problem is the cranking speed is really tight.

feels like heaps of compression.

i couldnt get it to key start but we towed it and it started first pop,

it seems to go really well and idles with a nice pulse, would this be the case of over torqueing the engine eg,

newer style e shaft

-front e shaft bolt torqued to tight?

I would defininatly like to learn from my mistakes ,thanks

couple of things, check end play for sure on all builds. check bearing clearance, check the e-shaft for truness. almost sounded like a tight bearing or something but it could just be a bad ground or lack of lubrication aswell.

it seems to crank over with ease when then sparkplugs are out of the block but as soon as i put the plugs back in theres just so much compression, that the starter moter starts to heat up.I gonna take it for a long drive this weekend see if it free's up the cycle.otherwise the timing covers coming off for endplay check

hi again i took my car to a rotary engine shop , the mechanic said that it could be the clearance between the apex seal to rotor housing, as they were brand new carbon seals , he sed it should wear in. after a long trip.

is this correct , compresson on all faces were 105+ on all faces
