how do people use ceramics in rotary engines? particularly coatings. im sure they can be used on the rotor faces, maybe the side of the rotors, and definitely in the ports, but more than that i dont know.



and another question, isnt the rotary engine a very good choice for ceramics in the rotor core materials and intermediate plates? since a rotary engine doesnt jerk around like a piston engine, ceramics should work very well.

all i've seen done are rotor faces and both the intake and exhaust manifolds. haven't seen anything else done. can't see a point to anything else, really.

ceramic coatings are sometimes used. however quite cost ly and mostly only necessary in "competition" engines

JHB Performance www.jhbperformance.com (In canada) they can coat your engine with the same special coatings as in the 787b

There are a lot of benefits for ceramics on street cars.



Everything is coated on the engine below( rotor housings/side plates, rotors bearing, pump etc)

how well did that work? any improvement when it runs? less misfires, more HP? what type of coatings did they use(oil shedding, friction reduction, heat reflective)? and where did they use them?

From my personal experience, other REAL racers, engine builders etc they work extremely well.



Owner of one race team reported a 40deg DROP in oil temp. He runs a Gt47 @ 45psi on his drag Rx8.



However hard numbers are coming soon.

there has been alot of problems latly with the place above i would look for another or make sure u are located close to them they are in canada and have had numerous problem shipping other forum members stuff back to them
