After tuning a number of engines you soon learn what a rich or lean mixture smells like. When a car comes into the shop I can tell right away if its rich or lean at idle.

back in the day, i used to tune by smell, but now i think i trust the hard data (gauges, computers, etc.) a bit more. however, the smell of a rotary running right is simply one of the sweetest i know of ...

Couple months ago at the dump an old geezer said "nice car, what are you running it off."



I looked at him funny and replied "Just 91 octane pump gas."



"Oh yeah, and a quart of 2-stroke premix."



Lol, didn't think about people complimneting my car for smell- he probably thought it was biodiesel.
