My friend in Florida modified it for me. But from what I can tell is that the first 2 sets of forks, which shift from 2nd to 3rd, he ran a bead between the two. I can't measure it since it's in the car already, but what is told to me by him is that it lines the forks up so when you go to shift there is no way in hell you will miss. You almost always miss shift going from 2nd to 3rd and pop in 5th. He did some other stuff but don't know what. He sent me the whole rear tail section assembled all I did was put it back in place. That and he also shortened the shifter linkage 4in forward because I have it in a Datsun 1200. Sorry couldn't be much more help as I didn't do the modifications to the transmission. The threshold of the turboII transmission is around 400hp max after that you will be breaking them. Best time my friend had with his bridge 12a nitrous datsun was 10.5x.

I have a 4 speed toploader from an early mustange that i think might to do the trick

The Toploader is a concrete bunker outhouse.

However, the pilot on it is much too large and would have to be cut down. A Chevy-type transmission fits just fine. Plus, Toploaders are worth a LOT of money, you could probably sell it for as much as a Chevy-type race trans.

On another note, I'm interested in this shift finger modification. The way it sounds, you put a slight guide ramp in the fingers? It still wouldn't help you out, though, if the synchros block your shift. (The 2-5 syndrome doesn't account for also being unable to get it in 2nd or 4th)

What about a t5? i have one of thoughs sitting around too i have a freind who has a 550 hp mustange running one stock and it hasn't broke, and mine will be putting like a max 400 with nitrous to the ground and a hell of alot less torque then his 5.0 i think the t5 has closer gears then the TII tranny, i am trying to go the cheapest way as possibly for this engines tranny because the other car i am building is sucking up too much money

2.32

1.69

1.29

1.00

That should have very little rpm drop and with 6.14 gears and 26 inch tires redline 10,500 i would have a top speed of around 135-140 mph

No it doesn't I've never had a problem getting it in that last gear. Like I said before in my previous post I don't know all that my friend had done to the transmission. All I can account for is that I don't have any problems shifting at high rpms with it. Mike_Rudy if your interested in the T5 transmission you should look up Kennedy Engineering http://www.kennedyeng.com/other.htm they make an adapter for the T5 transmission.

Well my deal on the close ratio gears fell through so now it is either a turbo II trans or a t-5
