Hi, where unsure if I should post a project thread, but friends pushed me https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

I'm trying to build a car the way I want.

The car is an Volvo 142 -73. They are rather common i Sweden, but all of them are piston-engineed.

It started with a simple 4-link-build. But now it all has got out of hands...

I will post as much pictures as possible, but there is alot old pictures so I also link my older swedish project-thread so you all can se my progress-pictures.

I let the pictures talk for them self at first. Visit my album at Photobucket, to much to upload!

All work is done by myself.

Right now I'm all hands with the 4rotor-build from my own CADs and handwork.

Everything is made in house.

Have problem to post images?! How many pictures can I have in every post??

A teaser...

A little bonus. I'm doing a little air-cooled 10cc rc-engine when I have time over...

And that's not often I'm afraid...

Sorry for the fast rewind https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.gif

Have started on the two loose ends. And as I did with the main-shaft, I spared a few bucks taking a smaller material, but then I have to turn the centre from an excenter from start. But why not https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif All you can save in money you can have more fun fore https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

Have started on the big end's inside of the lose lobs. Sorry for my bad english, don't know realy what the name's are for things https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif But you'll understand by the pictures I hope https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.gif

As you can see they are about 10mm to long, just to keep the key-grip. With the keygrip I know where to put the holes and so on, without indicate on the lobe.

This changes the entire concept of "build".

Very admirable, you will have an amazing understanding of the engine when you are done.

Yes, hopefully I will learn more and more if the engine, and even more before it's starting up I hope, so I donät need to do it all again https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

rxspeed7 10-31-2010 06:29 PM

this isn't a "build" thread but more of a manufacture thread. lol. looks like its going to be a killer build though. definetly watching this. cheers mate.

Very important for me is that you all understand that I'm not an company or working in a Speedshop. I'm working with CNC-mill, and have the opportunity from my boss to use the machines at nights and weekends for private projects.

The whole project are payed with own money, no sponsors or gifts https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

The whole concept are my own drawings. Got bored searching for any hints on the Internet and all of our forums about 4rotor. Decided to use MasterCam X4, and Inventor to draw the shaft my self https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

Therefore I don't can guarantee that it works https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

The complete shaft will cost about 10K SEK, that is about 1400 USD today https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

Have drawn the rear counterweight. It's not precise, but near enough at the moment.

This weekend I moved the last from my old appartment to our new house, so soon the "build" will continue https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

i fully understand that, it was more of a joking statement. what you have so far is about as badass as it gets. keep up the good work man!!!

p.s. out of curiosity, what do you do for a living? are you a machinist?

zack

I understood that you were joking, but wanted to explain anyways. Have had many threads in other forums there people thought I was a member of an speedshop, or the owner https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif I dont wanna be mixed up with some company comercials https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

For a living I works in a small industrial company with 30 employees. I operate CNC-mills with very unusual and rare parts in the waterpower industry. Often 3D-surfaces and so on.

So when I first started to turn the shaft in the Lathe, I had never operated a CNC-Lathe. So the estimated time was pretty long at first https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

Have done all my CNC-work in MasterCam so far.

rxspeed7 11-02-2010 09:04 PM

haha sounds good. that sounds like a pretty interesting job. well anyways keep up the amazing work!!! kudos

Thank you!

Don't miss out the rest of the car! Have build an own frame and front suspension in a welding-fixture in my garage.

Wolvo 142 - 26B

thatpoorguy 11-07-2010 02:16 PM

Are you going to machine your own rotors and housings? Work looks great, keep it up!!

Tegheim 11-07-2010 11:34 PM

No, at first I will use stock parts. Maybe when they have tried out the billet-rotors more I could try it to. But housing isn't any idea of making my self.

Tegheim 12-30-2010 02:51 AM

As the 4rotor-build have some waiting and contruction-brain-burnout build in, I continued with the chassi and body meanwhile. I promise to update the engine as soon as something funny happen.

heretic 01-06-2011 12:33 PM

Yes, do keep going. I for one am just trying to keep the thread clear of useless posts. Nothing worse than finding an Epic Thread and there are two pages of junk posts for every update.

Tegheim 01-14-2011 02:21 PM

I don't have the tools to do spurgears really, but I wanna try, and it worked out pretty well https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

http://i815.photobucket.com/albums/z...1-14002-30.jpg

Tegheim 01-14-2011 03:53 PM

When it turned out pretty well, I thought, maybe I should simulate endbearing of the axle as well. Too bad I didn't do the spurgear so long that I could do the M27x1.5 thread also. That will be on the next test-piece https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif
