RX7 13B 4 UR AZZ 01-17-2011 01:39 PM

do you intend to produce these parts?

thatpoorguy 01-18-2011 03:11 PM

Can't wait to see the finished product!

sleeperRX7 01-19-2011 09:35 PM

Will you fab the housing bolts to hold all the sections together as well? In the words of Guinness (Brilliant!)

phinsup 01-19-2011 09:55 PM

Very cool!!

I don't think so, will try it out before I deside what to do with the blueprints.

Yes, I will fabricate the bolt self. Havn't got any more info about that at the moment though...

Thanks all!

Are you going to have those words laser inscribed on the rotor faces? Lol

Haha, no https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif Thats just for "commercial use" https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

Me and my friend have drawned some light-weight rotors that he want's to try out in his FD3S.

Baldy 01-25-2011 10:02 AM

Don't stock rotors have internal passageways for oil to pull heat from the combustion face? Or am I wrong? If they do, how would you make that in a CNC/mill application (since I'm pretty sure stock rotors are cast)? Or are you planning to cut down a stock rotor like other builders do?

The design showing is planed to come with three pieces. One skeleton, and two plates. But we are just drawing for fun right now. I have other things to come first https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

Tonight I have made me and fixture to help me with the 3 holes in each lobe on the main e-shaft.

This does so I don't need to pre-drill with big tool-holders as result.

Now I just "continue" drilling i these holes into the shaft. The 35mm will help me to steer to the right position.

Very nice!

It's a shame so much good-looking work will be hidden inside the engine! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/tongue.gif

Any update on this bad ass build!!!

Tegheim 02-04-2011 01:19 PM

Next friday I hope that I will get some done with the E-shaft. Will visit a man that will help me grind, hardening and polish the E-shaft to complete the work-progress. This man also do some work on the Koenigsegg Engine https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

I hope to update the chassi-thread meanwhile. But this weekend I will give to my girlfriend https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

Tegheim 02-07-2011 02:32 PM

My girlfriend where with me when I cleaned up the workshop last weekend. This is the result! Not everyone that have som 4-rotor-shaft-material on the table https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

590 Celsius for an hour, then cut it into small small pieces and sell it on ebay https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

Baldy 02-18-2011 08:56 AM

Cut it up and sell it? What's wrong with it?

Tegheim 02-18-2011 10:15 AM

Hehe, nothings wrong, besides this mean little thing ends up taking all of my time awake https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

Almost there now! Lets start countdown https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

what is it doing lol?

Tegheim 02-20-2011 06:24 AM

I'm using the probe to measure up all holes in the front-cover https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

Now the shaft is out of the owen. Have been there since friday 15:00, and are still 200 celcius now 46hours later.

thatpoorguy 02-20-2011 09:30 AM

Jesus that's hot! Lol is the feeler probe linked to a computer to take measurements or is it just by hand. Sorry but my phone doesn't always like video links lol

Tegheim 02-21-2011 11:44 AM

The Heidenhain touch-probe is linked to the machine-software. Then I can choose to read the value on the screen, use it in a zero-point-tranfer, or print it to a *.txt on the computer that is connected by the network.

Bad is, that what I know, I can only print one X,Y,Z-value on each *.txt. Havn't read more about it.

thatpoorguy 02-21-2011 12:01 PM

I remember from my CAD classes in high school that a 5 axis mill with a prob could be used to reverse engineer a part and write the full code for it, but unfortunately it was just mentioned in the class and we didn't go that in depth. We did write our own codes for our names and for chess pieces we made on the lathe. Fun class, wish I'd have done more classes for CNC work

phinsup 02-21-2011 05:11 PM

I honestly don't know what I would do with access to all of that equip. The list is so long it boggles my mind. I'm probably kidding myself, I would spend the first month not sleeping even for an hour and die from exhaustion and never make half the stuff I wanted to, but damn it would be a fun month.

Tegheim 02-23-2011 09:52 AM

Hehe, I've worked here for 8years, and have always done small things by night. But this project is big, and the time can't be measured.

But mostly I have fun https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

The only thing I hate, is when I don't know exactly how to go futher with the shaft for example...

thatpoorguy 02-23-2011 11:45 AM

Where there's a will and a large budget, there's a way lol

Tegheim 02-23-2011 11:54 PM

The budget it very low at the moment. The shaft has only cost me 490 dollars this far https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

Tegheim 03-01-2011 04:11 PM

Tomorrow my little friend are going on his first journey by himself... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif

We'll hope it works out fine https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

omg Id be soo scared to let my big buddy venture by itself... wheres it going? what for?

I like your box lol

Tegheim 03-01-2011 11:50 PM

It's going to be straighted (spelling?) to avoid warping. Then I'm get it back to some more machining.

How do they straighten it?

Tegheim 03-02-2011 01:52 PM

Put the shaft on two V-blocks and use the squeezer/press/crusher to bend it right with the hydralic cylinder.

Can fix a picture of our machine tomorrow.

GreyGT-C 03-02-2011 11:04 PM

you're my hero..... seriously.

83twinheadlight 04-09-2011 11:41 PM

Here in Sweden we call it SS2541-03, it's the same as the american 4340.

I'm still here, but not much time on the engine sadly. Will try to do something shortly!

Sorry...
