Heretic, help me set the crankshaft in while j9fd3s holds the chain! Lynn can supervise and point at everything

Look closely at the rotor. Its beveled for more timing from side ports.

the 13a is so rare, that mazda has a restored luce, the car it came in, but it has no engine.

the 2.3T engine is making 265rwhp with the throttle partway closed, and 3-5psi of boost. its got a lot of potential...

Can you elaborate on the 2.3T. I have that motor in a speed6. I love it but I feel it is held back in stock form, and to make it worse the highest rated gas in OK is 91. I have yet to explore this motor more for fear of voiding the warranty. We had some smoking issues, I believe to be turbo related, not long ago.

Thanks,

Brad

we found a dyno sheet of a mazdaspeed 3, where the boost, afr, and throttle position was logged, and above 5500 rpms, the boost starts falling, the throttle starts closing, and the fuel just gets way rich.

i agree also that the thing is setup to use as much octane as you can give it, which is ok i guess, but 91 is like the bare minimum...

http://www.reactiveracing.com/ these guys are making 800+ hp, right out of the box with the 2.3 motor, its got potential

What does the throttle position matter if it's got positive manifold pressure anyway? I know what you mean, though.

With better but still pump gas friendly compression, rods that aren't made of rejected pot metal, better intake, and good exhaust, the Ranger version of that engine will make something like 250hp from 5500-8000rpm. Airflow limited by the camshafts. Upgrade the cams and it's up to 300hp, and we're still on stock as-cast unported heads. This is also before you dig up any kind of forced induction.

And, they are light.

the 2.3T engine uses an AL block with iron liners, the non turbo engine is just AL

different crank, rods and stuff too
