Hi, piecing together a 13bpp, just wondering if somebody with abit of experience would be able to tell me if all these parts are compatable:

S5 6 port rotors

Rx8 6 port E-shaft

Rx8 6 port stat gears

^all new parts, should i also change the rotor bearings over to rx8/REW???

Also i have new Series 4 turbo rotor housings which will be geting peripheral ported....Whats the best side housings to go with these? i have some series 5 turbo but they are abit worn. I think i would prefer new or better cond used items. Should i just buy the cheapest(series 4) or is there an advantage in going to the latter S6,7,8 REW or jc cosmo side housings?- keeping in mind its for a pp so intake port size dosnt matter

oh and as far as apex seals go, should i use the 3mm Mazda carbons or maybe import some 2mm carbons from Racing Beat? Are the 2mm carbons better than the 3mm? i noticed some drag racers were using 2mm but Mazda only offers Carbons in 3mm

Cheers for any help!

Rotor, shaft and gears shold be ok.

Plates? **** I dont know, dont think theres any difference between S4 and S5 that would matter in a Peripheral Port.

2mm carbon if the sealgrooves are perfect, 3mm if theres any sign of wear.

cheers, yeah i have brand new rotors so there's no wear.

Does anybody know if i should put rx8 rotor bearings into my rotors or will the standard ones be okay?

The rotor bearings are basically the same, not worth changing anyway, just machine the oil groove a little deeper like the MFR bearings. You will need to slot the oil feed hole in the rear gear where it meets the side plate. S4/5 plates will be fine, the less worn the better, or get them skimmed by someone who knows what they're doing. If you get them skimmed don't use FD corner seal springs, use the 'wire type' springs.

Call Glen Munroe at Rotary Power for Racing Beat 2mm seals, he's cheaper than buying from Racing Beat direct. You will also need the Racing Beat springs to suit, and if you want 2mm solid corner seals buy from Atkins.

Advantages are: No machining of the apex grooves and 2mm seal better than 3mm and are less likely to 'bounce'at high rpm.

Oh cheers for that guys.

PDF, yeah i think im guna go see rotary power, they seem like they know their pp's. Cheers for the info on the apex seals! thats what ive been thinkn for ages about 2mm vs 3mm, but i keep getting conflicting views from different people. Tony(think thats his name) from rx7Heaven laughed at me when i suggested 2mm carbons! said he would never build an engine for a customer with 2mm seals or a J port...said they would give him a bad name

oh well, thats cleared a few things up for me. Just had to make sure before i went ahead and spent all my money

Yes go with 2mm, even the steel 2mm stockers make power up to 10,000 rpm with the right clearance. I run them in my p-port, more as an option to boost it in the future.
