13b Rebuild
#11
ok i talked to my dad, previous owner. He took it to mazda when it wouldnt start about 4 years ago and they tested it, it has low compression. they told him to put it in 2nd gear and drive around at high rpm's for an hour and see if it free'd the seals, nada. So it needs it all, im starting a new thread in motor swap.

check out ebay for brand new rebuild kits (rotor kit included) for $500
here is the one I saw today (although it is for a 12a)

The kits are on there all the time.

Thats far from a full rebuild kit. Lots of good parts missing, no side seals (springs are there) no corner seals (inserts are there, and the springs) No oil control rings. No rotor seals, and if your engine is too far gone (4 yrs on low compression) you don;t know what the rotor housings or irons look like yet. Just remember this is a BASIC kit.

well i'd like to find a way to swap in this other motor and let my dad rebuild the NA with a full bridgeport and such in a few months and put it back in. My car was getting good too but its a stock motor i was boosting so it went.

I am currently in the process of a rebuild myself. You can get a kit off of ebay for like 500 but you can never be sure if you are getting all of the necessary parts. Like the one above it is missing i think corner seals, not positive, but still since your car has been sitting around for four yours chances are you are going to need everything. The cheapest kit I have found that comes with everything that you will need is from Rotary Aviation. Their kit comes with everything. It is $869 for their master set. The only thing that it does not include is a gasket set, which they also have for like 40 or something. This is where I am getting my kit from.

I bought my rebuild kit from Rotary Aviation as well... I just bought my second one last week .. everything is good .. yeah - agree - a motor thats been sitting for 4 years will probably need the MASTER one.. Their kits have more than enough stuff.. without a diagram to where all the gaskets went ..I was still able to get them to their right locations with the videos.
Two Videos from Atkins/Turrentine did the trick as well.. nothing misses .. I have 6,000 miles and counting on my car..
