Sorry to hear about you engine Dragon. You should stop trying to kill every car on the road. Your engine will live longer man.
lol.. I'm hoping these Atkins Rotary apex seals will allow me to continue doing that without killing the engine... We will see.. :smirk:

Are you sure you want to do Atkins apex seals? I have always heard stock is best. How about adding 2% fuel to your mix?

I'm going to call/email a few people about this. I want to see what Turentine, Dave at KD and the folks at Pettit and RP think about this. I'll post any feedback they give me.

stock ones break eventually and usually sooner than later if you making power... if the fuel is on and everything is all great in your tunning your fine for a while, but the first time somthing ***** up, IE. railing on the car with less than a 1/2 tank and a fuel pump sucks air for a split second (dammit) it's all over.. the atkins seals in front of me look hella stronger, so we'll see what they are made of....

I just talked to Bruce Turentine, he said that the turbulence the 90 degree turn in the secondary ports creates helps with gas mileage. He also recomended going in from the manifold side of the exhaust port, and match the port to the liner. He said that it wouldn't change the timing, but just smooth the exhaust flow better. I'm going to make a few more calls.

Dave,

I analyzed the pics you put up here and compared them to my own porting pics. Looks like my intake opening is about the same or maybe a hair earlier from the pics. Your closing timing is definitely a little later, but it's hard to quantify since the angle of the top side of the port is different. Yours is more straight across, mine is tipped at an angle; so depending on where you measure along the top side, the difference in size would be a different value.

can someone explain how the straightness and angle of the top of the intake port affect port closing? most of everyone's porting curves a little up top, but judge ito's is straight as a knife. how would a shape like that affect power?
