Engine porting
You could do that and it may hold. But if it doesn't then it gets sucked iinto your motor is it really worth it for what minor bit of intake turbulance you may clear up?
I wouldn't worry about making it that smooth

I wouldn't worry about it getting sucked into the engine, as Bruce Turentine does the same thing to airplane engines.
I remember reading somewhere that the biggest improvents to be had from porting, were not actually gotten from the shape of the port on the face of the housing, but rather the shape of the inside of the port, and where the air is directed. Looking into the secondaries, the air goes in from the LIM, makes an almost 90 degree turn to run almost directly into the air from the primary port. With a little bit of time and effort, the ports could be contoured to not make the air turn so abruptly, and face the inside of the opening chamber, rather than the other port.
I probably won't do that to the engine I'm currently porting, but maybe when it's time to do mine i will.

Since I decided to blow my **** 24 hrs ago I have started buildin a new engine.. :smirk: So here is the porting work I got done today.. the ex ports are about done an the intakes are just roughly cut to size, but still need massive work.. but you can get a idea of the size of my side port..

I'm guessing porting is something I wouldn't want to try on my own for the first time on my only car, right? In that light, is the best thing to mail it off to
someone to do it for me?

A mistake can cost you about $300. Thats the cost of a new housing. I have been getting good pointers from a freind that does it quite often.
