what tires and brakes do you guys recommend?

try from the variety of kuhmos available for tires..

as far as brakes.. stock with better pads will suffice..

yeah stock 4 pistons in front should be suffecient for just about any tire you run.



I've had good luck on victoracers. I've been running on hoosier dot's but haven't quite figured them out yet. It's not helping that they're 3 years old and have been heat cycled about 100 times (literally). Should have some new ones soon tho.

A PROPERLY maintained stock brake system with good quality pads is sufficient. Before the event Bleed/Flush the system.





Your best bang for the buck is quality rubber as allowed in your class. Victo-Racers are great, hoosiers are better (But at a price). IF (A BIG IF) your budget allows, a dedicated set of rims and tires will go a long way to helping you run consistant times

so what is the hot pad to use for time trial competitions?



I'm erring on HAWK HP+ front, HPS rear



else it's EBC reds, EBC greens, Satisfied Grand sport Gs5, Hawk Blacks for front.

i see... how about the bonez rotors and brake pads...it should be good

stock rotors are motre than adequate

some how I don't have much faith in anything bonez. They are rx7.com badged products. It is either some rebadged product or something along those lines. I'd buy something from a large manufacturer such as Hawk, or EBC, or porterfield who's specialty is brake pads and R&D for brake pads. I'm sure the budget on research and development from hawk is significantly more than what rx7.com can muster up no matter how many rx7s they fix or greddy cat backs they sell.

In the past I've had good luck with Carbotech Panther + pads (www.carbotecheng.com). For AutoX, they bite very very well and can even handle track duty (I had 4" ducts). They dust alot and sound like pigs being slaughtered, but damn they work well! Be sure to bed them properly though, they, and other good pads, are nothing like your lifetime warrany $19.99 Carquest crap.



For rotors, plain Brembos are more than enough. They don't look as cool as some of the other pimp-tastic things out there but they are much more reliable.



For R-compounds, the Kumho V710's was the tire of choice for last year's nationals. They're less expensive than Hoosiers and according to a GRM article - faster too. One thing I do know about the Hoosiers, they flat-spot pretty easily of you lock them up. My experience with Kumho products is that they are a bit more resilient to overly spirited driving and do not cord as quickly.
