hey gusy, have been drifting for a couple years now. mostly 240sx's. but i now have an FC and am drifting it. but the one thing i noticed is that the steering angle is the suxors on here!!! so i am looking for some tie rod spacers. i decided to go with the GP Sports over the super now and i was wondering if anyone could give some feed back on them?

o also plan on redusing the lock to lock turning to 180 each way...if anyone has done that before i would like input there too https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Welcome to the aggrevating world of driftinng FCs, enjoy!!!! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

No, seriously once the car is setup properly its a drift machine, in my opinion more stable and controlable than 240's. The best way I can rate the FC is it being a intermedaite-pro, were as a 240 is a beginner. A few of my friends that have FCs jumped into 240's and looked like they have been drifiting for years.

Well on the Angle kits, the GP Sports and SuperNow!'s are pretty much identical other than the aluminum rods being orangish/gold (Possibly just rebadged SuperNow!'s). I recommend SuperNow!'s for a couple reasons, one they offer a race version (high strength rod end for high load applications), I know more people running SuperNow!'s than GP Sports. Lastly, which I think has alot to do with more running the SuperNow!'s is the places that carry/can get the GP Sports have a turn around time of 4-6 weeks, me on the other hand can be as fast as 3-4days, plus my prices are about the same at the 3-4day as the competetiors 4-6 week.

Can you explain the alittle more about the lock to lock 180 each way? Are you speaking of the steering ratio? You would neeed a steering rack quickener.

Ricer240sx 06-09-2005 06:25 PM

yeah i am talking about reducing the ration.....can u elaborate on the quickener?? i was going to pick up a used rack and have my buddy modifie it for me (we was going to do one for a 240 drift car he helped swap an RB26 into....)

and also, what do u recomend is needed to get the RX-7 to "drifthappieness"? lol

eyecandy 06-10-2005 02:20 PM

Well to use a quickener you will need to get a whole new steering rack, since they are pretty much just made for US cars (US racecars). You would probably be better off trying to modify an oe rack. Bascially what you woul dbe doing is changing the gearing.

I assume you have nothing for the FC? If so here is what I recommend:

First off replace anything that is broken or worn out.

-Polyuerthane bushing kit

-Toe elminator bushings

-Rear adjustable camber link

-Steering angle kit

-strut bars

-coilovers

-roll center blocks (front lower a-arms)

-Sway bars

Thats pretty much the order I recommend them in. Strut bars (front) are in the middle of the list because of how it effects the FCs and causes them to understeer more. Sway bars are at the bottom becasue they should be the last item to be installed and after your chassis is setup properly, sway bars tend to complemnt suspension setups and can hinder your ease of proper setup if they are already upgraded.

If the car has stock power, remove all the rear camber, as your power and expericene increases, increase the camber for stabilty reasons. If you would want to do a alignment setup this is what I recommend:

Front: 2-3 degrees camber; zero toe (add upto 1 degree with power)

Rear: zero camber (add camber with more power); zero toe

vosko 06-11-2005 12:30 PM

i should sticky this!

I like your site eyecandy, very professional! I might buy some suspension stuff from you for my FD.

BTW, itsnt it Toyota Cressida JZX81, not Creddida

i have some of that list, just need struts (gunna rund adj struts with springs) rear strut bar rear camber kit (got one for the front and rear, but only works for teh front :( ),roll center blocks (could u elaborate on that more?? and where can i get'em?)and the steering angle kit wich i will be purchasing soon

and yeah, i deff need an alignment right now

i have a full mods list in my sig https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

eyecandy 06-13-2005 09:40 PM

Roll center blocks can ONLY be used of S4's. They are placed bewteen the lower ball joint and lower a-arm. It is used for excessivly lowered cars, or cars that have been lowered but want stock camber back in the front wheels. When you lower the vehicle you create neagtive camber all around, which in turns changes the gemoerty/movement of the lower a-arms.

When the suspension is stock the a-arms are about flat, but when lowered the a-arms are pointed up and the block return them to about stock.

As for where you can find them, I am just about finished with my testing of them and they will be available on www.secretelement.com shortly. I am not sure if anyone else produces these, if there is I have no idea.

Its actually stainless steel, but whos counting https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

My reasoning is becasue they are very strong and will not fatigue. But most importantly I have had bad experiences with the Racing Beat/MazdaTix style. They would crack/shatter while be pressed in, which derilin is NOT suppose to do that. I know SS (or any other metal) will NOT do that, and looking at the consumer end as well, in event that you screw up a hub in an accident, just press the bushing back out and press it in another hub. Can't do that with the others, I tried https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif

SuperNow! does produce them for the FD, along with many other chassis's. I do have one set of just steering rack spacers available for the FD.

Var 07-02-2005 01:37 PM

I'd just like to throw in my 2 cents about the alignment. I just parted out my 240 drift car and started building an FC drift car. First of all, i'd just like to comment on the parts availability for FC compared to 240 is very different. I'm having a hard time finding the parts that i need. I'm glad i found secretelement..i'll be getting at least a few pieces from you in the next month.

Ok back to the alignment thing. The front alignment should be negative toe, which is toe out. This gives you a tad slower steering response, but it makes the front end track a lot better and more overall traction. Also it gives you more steering angle at full lock cause your wheels are pointed out more.

My FC will be powered by an LS1. Therefore i will hopefully have no power issues. I'm going to use the rear toe link kit and run about one degree of positive toe(toe in) for more traction and higher cornering speed...basically doing the same thing as DTTS but the advantage is the alignment angle will be consistant and easier to predict, especially on switchbacks.

I dont know that much about FC chassis except that

1-they are better than s-chassis nissan as far as stiffness

2-steering angle sucks, and the control arms get in the way

i may resort to cutting/welding the spindle to pull the tie rod end inwards more.

I dont even know if FC's have caster adjustment..? Lots of research to be done.

i'm running the gp sports Super angle kit... works GREAT!!! u can definately FEEL the extra angle you get from the kit... i also have an extra set of spindles that i'll be modifying for more angle, but also need to figure out how i'm not gonna hit the sway bar... which i'm already hitting with the gp kit.. and 9.5" fronts.. haahaa

hey eye candy got any pics the angle from ur spacers??

also...i emaild u about a set a couple days ago but u havent gotten back to me!! also i need some tie rod ends, u makin thoes too??

i think i might go with the GP sports so i can get the Tie Rod ends with them though....

Ricer240sx 10-13-2005 11:18 PM

also boostinmys5 did u do anything to quicken up the steering ration?? thats gotta be a lot of fumbling with the wheel back and forth lol]

also, keep us posted on the spindle modifacation, i am interested in that too! also interested in sway bar avoidance https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png im only gunna be running 8 up front though (FD wheels soon and then who knows after that, hopin for 16" BBS's like the Verts.....)

i've looking into a steering doubler.. but havn't found anything that seems like it'll work well yet... and without having the spindles/control arm/sway bar modded, i don't really feel the need for it yet... i'm also running a 330mm steering wheel that might be helping as well... most of the time in transition i just throw the wheel and catch it after changing angle, this is probably why i havn't seen the need for the doubler.. i'm sure when i start approaching 60+ deg. of steering angle it'll be more of an issue... i haven't measured my angle yet, but i'm figuring it's closer to 45deg or so... but don't quote me on that... does anyone know who makes aftermarket control arms... somthing that will allow more angle, without having to use spacers.. if i can't find anything i'll probably end up fabricating something that moves the part of the control arm that's hitting up and in from where it's now.. also i need to find a swaybar that route's through a different location.. anyone have any ideas??

youngbecker 11-01-2005 01:00 PM

eyecandy, i like your website alot, descroption of parts, easy to navigate your way, but i have near maxed out my stock turbo on my newer tII FC so i am curious as to mre about your turbo kit in developmemt, i also think your prices for parts are very fair!

djgiantrobot 11-02-2005 10:35 AM

just a little FYI, if you get the uras inner tie rods, they have spacers built in. This will work with stock of upgraded tie rods ends.

Ricer240sx 11-02-2005 12:26 PM

and what kinda price do the URAS inner tie rod ends demand?

What is your email address I have been getting alot of email on them recently. I am sorry if I may have looked over yours by mistake.

I also sell the SuperNow Steering angle kit,(identical to GP SPorts) but anodized blue or purple rather than orange and they have the available option of a 3 piece rod end (race version). The street kits are also a few buck cheaper than GP SPorts and I can get them to faster.

Tony Angelo is running the race version on both his FC and FD drift cars, as well as Calvin Wan on his personal drift car I have yet to here one complaint about the kit.

About the URAS tie rods, I believe they are idenical to OE tie rods because you can use them with the OE outer tie rod ends. I will check out a price for ya.

well, i ordered my GP Sports Super angle kit (yeah i know i said i was gunna do it soooo long ago, but maintinence items came up and a couple other mods that i felt more of a neccesity at the time lol ) and im still waiting for it to come in. i ordered it from Auto RnD. i figure they will have to have it sent over from Japan as i cant see that being a high demand part over there as they dont have many 7 parts lol but ill get them on ASAP and tell u guys what i think about the apearance and any clearance issues i may have......then this summer ill let u know what it feels like https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png ive also ordered a smaller wheel too that i have on (havent got to use it yet though :( ) and ill throw the stocker back on and compair the set up between the two steering wheels https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

eyecandy 01-06-2006 07:15 AM

I am glad you finally made the jump! Welcome to the world of steering angle in RX-7s, no more prehistoric lack of steering angle. I am sorry to hear it is taking long for you to get yours, the SuperNow! kits take 3-4 days, no different than ordering any other product in the USA. More feed back is always great, but the kits appearance and contents is the same as the SuperNow! (kits are identical as discussed earlier) but a different color, there is also no clearance issues (dependent on wheel/tire combo). I have not heard anyone complain about the kits, even the professionals use the SuperNow! kit (Calvin Wan, Luke Lonberger, and Tony Angelo).

If you need installation instructions (GP Sports is Japanese only) or have any questions during the install email me at seeltuned@aol.com and I would be glad to help, even though you did not purchase the SuperNow! kit https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

they were like 140 bucks, are gold, have the spacer built in, only fit power steering racks.... manual racks only fit the left side. Nomuken said he recommends stock style rod ends for drift cars, but then again he was trying to make a sale so take that with a grain of salt.

boostinmys5 01-06-2006 12:48 PM

install is a snap... just cut 1cm (10mm) off the outer portion of the tie rod, install the spacer on each end of the rack.... install the tie rod ends, i'm using both supplied spacers (one larger than the other) below the heim's joint of the tie rod end.. (since my car is pretty low, and this seems to give the best angle on the rack) tighten everything down, and get align'd..... easy enough!

Hey guys... This thread is rather old, so I'm trying to figure out if anyone still checks it out...

eyecandy - I noticed that the site is still under construction... You still selling parts? I'm looking to pick up a set of DTSS bushings (I like that yours are SS) and a super angle kit. How much is the SuperNow compared to your kit?

PS: Vosko - Did I meet you at the last etown event? I have the black TII (Didn't drift cause someone forgot to bring my wheels...!)
