When i get some snow aground here (nj) i like to go play in it to learn about my car and how to handle it. Some times i will find a good corner to try a drift on. I will get the car sideways before the corner, about 15 20 35 feet or some think like that and andi use down shifting or smashing the gas to get me sideways.

Now what i want to ask is that just bullshit learning im doing for my self or what?

Well any kind of driving you do will improve your over all performance. Ice drifting or playing in the snow is fun as hell but it does not accuratley represent what you will find on the track. You knew that already though.....

It is still good to get a feel for the car and learn how counter steer works and blah blah blah. If it is just snow and not ice then it will be an easy way to get the *** end out and feel it the difference is speed. On the track or dry conitions you will be going faster so you will have to be prepared to move faster to compensate. Its also smoother doing it in the snow when compared to doing it normal but Like I said its still good practice.

Ice/snow drifting is very fun and a good time to learn some additional car control. However, IT SHOULD NOT BE DONE ON PUBLIC ROADS. Go find an empty parking lot to practice in. It makes no sense to put other peoples lives in jeopardy for your enjoyment and/or education.

Take that ticket to court man, there are two reasons why you can beat this:

1)If you were in a parking lot I would assume it was private property as you may know police have no jurisdiction on private property unless they have a warrant or the owners concent.. It is unlikely they have the owners concent unless people drift in that lot all the time, and even if they did they could only cite you for trespassing...

2)The officer would have to prove that your actions were reckless towards other drivers or pedestrians... Being reckless towards yourself is irrevelivant... as long as you only played in the parking lot, you could not have been reckless towards others...

Take it to court... Trust me, I have beat 3 tickets similar to this one... most of the time they will just dismiss it or lower it to somekind of mechanical violation...

Good Luck
