Randy I see that D1 is getting more strict. Oh well thats how it goes. But your right it seems that more and more I hear terms like style drift, speed drift etc.. For the most part its from people that are just now finding out about it or downloaded it. Or are taking the U.S. tv shows idea of what it is and thinking "yup they know all about it" I actually herd one show call it an extended power slide. I wanted to slap that guy. I also love the guys that think that mountain pass is only drifting...I just get so with the people here talking like they have ever seen real drifting first hand...the hard core drivers the guys on the streets.

It's rediculus. Especially on forums. People are like "i'm a dori ****" or "call me mister dorifto." I mean I guess it's alright to talk like that but the majority of people like that can't drive well (close to the limit of the vehicle that is) let alone drift.

Another thing that really bothers me is when they want to "get" into drift without having ever even driven a RWD car. Why don't they want to get into autocross or something? My take on it is that they want to get into it b/c they think it's cool not because they have experienced how fun it is. Other forms of driving are equally pleasurable just maybe not as cool?

I bet they're gonna sell smoke machines and speakers that make squeeling sounds like the BOV speakers they have now.

Ah, I don't claim to be a "drifter" but I do partake in it from time to time but I don't like all these people claiming to live such a life style or what ever you want to call it. It's wores than rice cause rice is just about looks IMO.

Oh I know I have done it before as well. One thing we try to do is have a cone in the middle and then put one finger on the cone and go around it as many times a possible keeping your hand/finger on the cone. This is VERY hard first cuz you can barely reach the cone anyway......especially with a bucket seat and two because that means the cone is in the center of your car and not at the bumper so it is hard to keep your door that close to the cone while rotating around it.

Its all fun! My reason for saying that is because some new guys are gonna read that and thing oh this is drift and the more retarded **** you do the better and that is not the direction of drift nowdays, that is the only reason I said anything. I like doing retarded ****.......im kinda famous for it...... but nowdays in Keichii's D1 you get no points for doing dumb ****. I mean dirt drops used to be the **** cuz you were way wide and just hanging the back tires in the dirt was hard to control and so on. Now if you do dirt drops they just kinda laugh and say NEXT!

That is not to say that some other group won't start a Drift Event where those things are allowed and doing crazy stuff gets you points though who knows..... Either way it fun and good practice
kougchi and a few hatchi's i remember in that dvd with the JZ82 (the video from the other thread) still go offroad (kougchi wasnt in that round, but he still dirt drops)

Koguchi and those other guys don't win either.

Not to say that Koguchi is not a great driver, I have raced against and drifted with him on several occasions.......his 180 is frickin fast! Koguchi used to be the man for D1 but now Keichii has moved on to other favorites and that is a big part of why he don't win.........that and he seems to crash right when he shouldn't.....hahaah Anyway Koguchi owns his own shop and is a great mechanic....he built his car moving the engine even further back for balance (kinda makes you wonder about what Ted says about Polar movement). I think if you mechanic and drive you will either become really good at one and so so at the other or mediocre at both. Koguchi is a nice guy but his personality probably finds it better for him not to be bullied around by sponsors and stuff so I think he is going to go furter into the making side of cars........this is my opinion.

D1 has pushed Taniguchi's career way ahead and his life is set for him now. Imamura Yoichi (FD) is also getting Mad boost right now and is fully backed by Apexi I think you will find him doing some other Pro driving in the future. The guys that already have jobs or something going in the car/drift scene are not being talked about as much as people that don't . For instance........ Ueno( Soarer) he owns Vertex, the man is rich and his company sponsors other people in D1. Nomura (Blitz skyline) he owns URAS....lol and has been driving for Option as long as I can remember. There are others like this as well.....these guys don't need to be a Real Race car driver and probaly don't have those ambitions since they are already making oodles running a business. The other guys who love to drive and want to be drivers and have made themselves *****s....so to speak are going to be looked at more favorably by Keichii........

Man this is way off topic now but I live here in Japan and EAT, LIVE, BREATHE, and **** D1 and drift. I have Several Friends who are D1 Drivers and have some aspirations myself so I keep up with the politics and so on of professional drift and wanted to show you all kind of what is going on and why. As far as dirt drops go Yes if you hang the *** end off the track because you are hauling *** and somehow you drive out of it maintaining a drift they will go wild a stand up saying ****........it is cool but when someone else runs the proper line and clears the corner faster than you while looking smooth having the engine revving and stuff that person will get more points........hands down.

I think it has to do with Americans in general. Look at the Speed TV for instance. All they ever show is NASCAR or Barret-Jackson auto show or Import Tuner or some stupid bullshit like that. Most people that are interested in cars don't really like the hardcore driving of it, rather, the style and drooling over nice looking cars. Otherwise F1 and all the other similar types of racing would be on prime time! They are trying to appeal to the average american at these shows. Most of the people would rather see the guys get into a gnarly crash or drift with the doors open rather than driving the "boring" line as fast as possible, i mean, what do they know about the optimized line?

It's hilarious, whenever I go to the go-kart track at home, the "car enthusiasts" are doing like 17-18 second (I do 15 second laps for reference) lap times with uglyass lines, letting the *** swing out. People show up with their bad *** rides with inflated egos and then i just wizz right past them like it ain't no thang. Damn, I'm getting off topic, the point is the typical car enthusiast is there for the show not the real sport of it (a lot are real dicks on the track).

Man, I always end up venting some stupid opinion.

Oh yeah, I think the point I wanted to express is why i think that the signal guys just did "show drift" at the local event.

Ok i want to see some idiot kid in a new 350z with the lambo door conversion swing open the door and drift it. Id love to watch it fold over the windshield and rip right off the car.

That would ba about as funny as the video i have of a 97 Corolla e-braking a 180degree corner and just smacking the rear end into the curb. Busted the read tire off
