For anyone who has never autocrossed, you have to try it! This was the most fun I've had doing any kind of racing. I am hooked for good now!!

I didnt get any pics but I'm going again on the 27th and I'll try to borrow my brothers digital camera.

There was just one other FC (87TII) and about 5 FD's in various classes.

The TII's best run was a 46.7, the quickest FD I saw was a 42.2, my best run was a 50.8 which isn't bad for street tires and my first time out. I am in CSP class. I had an instructor with me the first two runs which helped a lot since I only had a couple of course walks and I had no idea what I was doing.

Oh yeah, I pimped the forum. The only two stickers I have on my car are nopistons.com baby!! And I think I recruited the TII guy, got his email, etc. I didnt get to talk to any of the FD guys unfortunately though, they were in different work and run heats.

I am hooked too. I run my TII and I am in ASP and I am beating the local C-5's Z-06's and Vipers. When I first entered the ASP class I never thought I would be able to catch them.

I am now building a B-Prepared TII for Topeka next September.

It is a lot of fun!! I am doing my 1st track day in 3 weeks with Chin Motorsports.

Good luck!! Watch the other RX-7's and how they drive the course try to mimic them.

If you are serious about this then start saving for camber plates and coil overs. As well as a rear toe eliminator and camber link. Then when you are about 2 seconds behind 1st place get some victoracers. Then you will be winning. I would do the tires last. Street tires force you to drive smooth and that is important

smooth = fast.

BTW - If you need any tips feel free to ask. I have done a lot of testing and tuning on my TII and my brothers 87 GXL we are dailing it in next weekend we just put all the camber goodies on it. Setting up the car is crucial to going fast.

Thanks Jim, I will definitely be looking to you for advice in the future. I was reading the rule book last night and noticed that in CSP, the NA RX7 seems outmatched... I mean they have the Integra Type R in there! That thing stock has 195HP, weighs less than an NA, and handles at over .9 G on the skidpad STOCK. So in CSP, unless I have unlimited money, I don't see how I could compete with that. Anyway, for now, I know it would take years of driving before Topeka even comes to mind but I will be concentrating on the suspension more and brakes and leave the engine alone. There is not too much more I can do with the motor anyway in CSP. I have KYB adjustables and Eibach pro kit springs and of course now I wish I'd have saved for true coilovers!! Oh well, again, I need more experience first. One guy with a 2nd gen CRX Si in CSP yesterday was on 3 wheels the majority of the time. I talked to him (I've owned 5 crx's and one was an EP project) about his mods and experience... he's been doing it for over 10 years. I bet I'll be doing it until I'm too old to drive....

Talk to you later.

One more thing.... For all the NA guys that post about "how do I go fast" or "should I do a turbo swap", if you're not going to buy a TII, then just hook up your NA in the suspension dept. The FC's, all of them, have excellent road race and autocross capability. I was surprised how my car was reacting yesterday and how much control I felt I had with just the shocks, springs, wheels and tires done.

Oh yeah, the Kuhmo 712's did a nice job at 38psi.... really predictable when drifting the back end out.

If you are drifting your back end out you not going fast. Trust me. A dude in a newer tricked out mustang was drifting one turn for kicks and he was definately going slower than a car going around it like it was on a rail.

Try lowering the pressure on those kumhos. Those high pressures are good for FWD cars you will probably do better with the rears around 28 and fronts at 30. For starters anyway.

I made the mistake when I was racong with my Toyo Proxes of running 40 lbs. I wasn't getting very good traction. I dropped the pressure down and it handled a lot better.

Matt (my bro) is running in CSP also. He is doing well. You are allowed a full exhaust. Matt is going to swap in a series 5 n/a engine soon and get it dyno'd with tII injectors and a S-AFC in it.

You can run w/ the integras trust me.
