non BB

single BB - one side of turbo has BB

dual BB - both sides are BB

BB helps the turbo spool a few hundred rpms faster

and BB also add to the expense costs if there should ever be a seal shot throught the exhaust housing......many BB turbos can not be repaired, where as a non BB turbo can be rebuilt by making a few phone calls....

BNR stage 3's. It's a twin set up and can give you the power you are looking for.

vosko- you said you had both the T78 and the GT35/40, right? So, did you ever take the FD to the track or dyno when the GT35/40 was in? I'm looking for a future turbo upgrade for my FD.. but like Mazdabation, I'm still undecided/confused..

My Perfect FD Setup would be:

Top Mount IC

Single Turbo(T-04R or T-66)

4.777 final gear.

For now, I've got a 62-1 and a FMIC, and I REALLY like it, but I know that the t-04R/t-66 can make BIG power.

As far as Lag...that's why I chose the 4.777 final gear. Top speed should be around 160 mph 5th gear(don't quote me, but I think JimLab on the other forum has the actual number).

My car's a daily driver as well, and let me tell you... I am GLAD that I bought the final gear.

I have been looking into the T04-R my self as of late.

From some of the info I have gathered it has pretty good spool up, and can also make big power.

The GT 35/40 apparently will crap out at higher boost/RPM where I still want the car to be able to pull on the highway.

Well if you must know my idea of the perfect Rx-7 is the one i am going to build. My plans are to keep it looking like an Rx-7 inside and out. I hate it when under the hood of some of these single turbo cars all you see are polished pipes going everywhere and making it look all cluttered. Only thing I plan on getting are the BNR upgraded twin and a FMIC. Thats it. (well of course fuel management and stuff like that) I am more into looks then speed.

Single turbos look all cluttered? For your twins you have two intake pipes, blow off valve return to airbox, pressure relief valve return to airbox, airpump, y-pipe, twin turbo arrangement.....

When you see them both close up one after the other, and have to work on one or the other, you'll see a single turbo setup is not nearly as cluttered. Not even close.

According to Loi's Dyno, he was making 400+ rwhp at 14 psi and 10.3~ a/f on a ported engine...that's some serious horsepower for such a rich a/f ratio and modest boost.

I've ridden in T-0R4's boost 1.3 Kilos+ with ported engine and let me tell you....it's pretty frightening.
