Anyone know if a 3rd gen tranny will work with a 2nd gen? I know new tranny mounts would need to be made, but other than that?

not sure, I'm pretty sure the FD has a pull type pressure plate.. you'd have to change a bunch of stuff but you should be able to do it.

It's not worth the effort. Just use a TII transmission. They're perfectly fine.

really? I would think the 3rd gen would be stronger. Oh well. How about the gears? Say i want to run 3rd gen gears, what all woudl i need? The thing is, i like the fact that a 3rd gen can top out at 160+ ... the TII can only top out around 140. I've been to 135 and now i want to go faster. I have the power to get there, just need different gears.

The only difference is 5th gear. If you rev your car to 8500 RPM you should be able to get into the 170 area.

Yeah, the TII 5th gear is shorter, which gives better acceleration. What's really needed is a 6th gear, not a taller 5th.
