A friend and I are building a 12A powered Miata for endurance racing and are looking at installing an EFI system. We are going to use the Megasquirt system but have questions about which type of TB to use for best performance.

Any suggestions or theories between a 4 barrel or 2 barrel weber type TB?

Any help would be appreciated.

Any porting on the motor? Will this be a race-only car?

 

This will be a race only car and yes, it will have a large street port with a custom built exhaust from header to tail pipe. Eventually we would like to go PP.

 

Then I'd start with an IDA type manifold with an IDA type throttle body. That way you'll have all the intake set up for when you switch to pp. The four barrel setups are best for street driving due to the progressive nature which helps with driveability. You're looking for all out power.
