Supercharge?
#12
Well we have tried the 5in blower carbed, the 7in blower efi, and now turboed.
Both have their good and bad.
5in blower carbed ran much better than the 7in blower efi. Efi had a bit more power but was really hard to get tuned. Supercharging is harder to tune when its efi/ecu. Turboed is much easier to tune.
I liked the Supercharging because it was unique, sounded awesome, easy setup, and the low end tourqe was a bit nicer than my turbo setup, but not by much.
I like my turbo setup because it has much more power, things stay cooler, and like woundup said, "who wants to change belts for more boost". You gain much more HP with a turbo by far, but thats preference. I think the blower is much harder on your motor than turbo.
I loved the supercharger setup, but man alive was it a pain in the *** at times to try to get it perfected, or it was just our bad luck. Supercharging just seemed to have many more problems than the turbo.
I can deal with a little turbo lag, but I think were getting a bit of turbo lag cause our tune isnt completed yet.
I think on the dyno at ground zero we did 205 or something for Hp with the supercharger. With all the money spent just to get to 205 max, we should have turboed the car earlier if we wanted more Hp.
I can make a list of the goods and bads by experience if anyone is interested.
I have my blower set up for sale if anyone is interested. I will sell it for 1/4 of what Atkins is selling it for. Buying it at full price is just way too much money for what you get out of it.
