What Eric is saying is what I was saying, put a baffel in the endtanks or shape them so that it tappers to the otehr side of the inlet/outlet

Dick swingers that's what. Some people won't buy stuff if it ain't got some fancy name HKS, Greddy, Apexi etc. then it can't be good if you designed it. I don't think you intention is to re-invent the wheel, just to make it better. Yet common knowledge is not so common after all.

Your car is faster than some other guys car, he then says to you but I got a Greddy intercooler. What the hell that got to do with effiency.

I think you design is well thought out, and if I did'nt just buy an intercooler I would certainly buy one from you.

My my...do I sense some angst here?

Go read "Maximum Boost" by Corky Bell; it explains why that design is not "optimal".

Good luck trying to beat all the "off-shore" IC's being dumped on eBay.

This **** just kills trying to make a profit on a "kit".

Actually it would be very easy for me to taper the end tanks and in hindsight that would be a better design than what I am running right now. Who knows I might get a new one made up for me as well.

My point is that the Greddy in the picture above CAN NOT me efficient, no way. Bottom in bottom out I don't care how the end tanks are tapered the top 10 rows of that thing are not in play.

I am not in this for profit. I already own a business. I guess my offer here is if I can get some help we can get these made and they will be a good quality Spearco/Turbonetics core with a down to business piping layout.

In all honesty if we can just get these made and people are willing to pay cost for them thats all I really care about.

After the new year I will order a new core and find out how much it will cost to make about 10 of them. Then with Robs help maybe we can get the piping made for a fair price and then anyone who is willing to be in on this car get an I/C at cost. Then we will go from there.

I am gonna go find that book and give it a read.

True, but that GReddy design is a compromise between performance and mounting ease.

Nice gesture and good luck.

We bought one of those $400 bar-n-plate IC cores from Hong Kong, and this thing scares me.

An equivalent Spearco core would've costed $1,000+ just for the core and several hundred for the endtanks!!!

yea a $500-$600 core means an end price of around 800-900...not really a "cheap" alternative. I mean maybe you could make it cheaper by offering unfinished aluminum pipes, normal hose clamps, and subpar silicone couplers.

But on my NPR FMIC, it's mounted in the same exact spot as yours, all i have is 2 45deg. hump connectors and 2 90deg elbow conectors, with a 2' straight piece of 304SS and a 3' straight piece of 304SS. After you add in all the proper T-Type hose clamps it's around $250...and thats with all the lowest prices that i can find.

Hopefully the guy rob knows can do it for you cheaply. But if you wanna say yours is better then the greddy people will be looking for SS pipes.

And the whole battery relocation thing should also be added to the cost of your kit, since it is absolutely necessary. So for some people who aren't good with things they'll probably go out and buy a relocation kit for $100+.

I'm not criticizing you or your product, just letting you know how it will be perceived.

You will probably be able to sell all the kits you, as long as the FC crowd doesnt do the FC thing aka cheap out, especially with results as good as yours seem to be with only the 1deg fluctuaion.
