i have alway's been curious about a ice box for n/a use. with using a inlet tube into a box, about a 1/3 of the way up put a screen to set the ice pack on, a screen on top of the ice to help keep bigger piece's in. then a outlet tube that goes to the TB.? i'll draw a pic if needed. this is for drag racing purpose's. would this help with cooling the air? for better performance?

It makes sense to me. I see people at the strip all the time throw bags of ice on their intakes to cool them down between runs.

Edit: After doing a little research, you probably won't see any measurable gain. The consensus seems to be it's more trouble than it's worth.

i would think due to the amount of air flow, you'd need a lot more ice than you'd think.

You would need way more than that unless you do some type of brine solution. Solid ice does not have the surface area that water would to transfer heat. Putting salt on the ice will cause it to melt at whatever temp the ice is, therefore making water that is as cold as the ice. A couple problems I forsee. You need to make the container water tight. If it's not then it wouldn't work and salt water would do a killing on everything in the engine compartment. Next is the need to continuously change the spent water out for new brine-ice solution. Not worth it in my book.
