ok im in the middle of cleaning some worse than horribly dirty intake parts that i came into; the parts make up a full gslse intake, air box to port sleeves. anyway im in the process of getting them cleaned like new so i can swap them onto my car and i have some questions. im using some stuff that i got at the parts store, cant remember the name but it came in a paint can and has a dip basket inside (maybe chem dip?). first i cleaned the sleeves, left em in for about 30 mins and they came out great, look brand new after i wiped off some of the gunky stuff. im now cleaning the tb and its being a little difficult. to give an idea of how dirty it is imagine a tb that was dipped in dirty oil and then left to dry. the thing was so dirty that from full open to close took about 5 seconds when left to close on its own. at first i stuck the whole thing in the can, only about 3/4s goes into the dip, but i let it soak for a pretty long time, probably like an hour. when i took it out i noticed that the stuff is loosened up but the parts that were really bad are now covered in a slimey, greasy substance. i decided to take the tb apart and put it in there like that bc the throttle plates, arms, and springs on them were still very dirty and that way i could get more of the tb in the dip at one time. i did that and left it in all night. i looked at it this morning and the part is pretty clean but the plates and some of the springs are still covered in that gunky greasy stuff. what is the best way to get rid of that stuff? it comes off with a rag but its hard to get a rag into some of the spots on the tb. im thinking maybe boiling water after it comes out of the dip? would boiling water harm the parts? im also going to be cleaning the dynamic chamber and the uim and if the greasy stuff stays on the inside of those theres no way i can get a rag in there to clean them out.

any help or ideas will be appreciated guys, thanks

Aerosol carb cleaner or brake cleaner works well. The slimey stuff you have left on the parts is the residue from cleaning other parts. It will wash off with water and hot water does work well and boiling water will not hurt anything, that stuff gets a lot hotter when it is on the car
