so whats the best bov i want it to perform well but not be to loud and ricey and i it to be able to handle a lot of boost if i so choose. Is there a difference between the greddy type S and type R? also the stiffer spring is for more boost correct?would it still work for low boost?

Don't know for sure but the Greddy Type R BOV is for higher boost applications.Whatever the spring is set at is the lowest you can turn down the boost so the Type S probly doesn't have as stiff of a spring so therefore you can run lower boost.

Yeah the one your talking about is the HKS SSQ BOV thats the one im going to get.3 different inserts for 3 different sounds.I heard that something pops off when running really high boost though...im not planning on running high boost so thats why im getting it otherwise id get the Greddy Type R.

BOV videos/sound clips perhaps? I am choosing between the Greddy type R and the SSQ myself. I'd like to hear how they sound. I know they're both good BOV's, so the only thing that I have left to choose from is sound.

bov's that vent to the atmosphere and are intentionally louder than necessary can rightfully be classified as rice without being wrong in my book.

I get what youre saying... but simply because you like the sound of one over the other shouldnt make you a ricer, should it? If so, i guess i fall under the ricer catagory. *shrug* .. doesnt matter to me, i like my car. And i like the schoolbus sound of the bov.. haha

yeah, it's just when it gets beyond any functionality-driven level of volume it's no longer any different than bolting an 'NA blowoff sound generator' on your car, it's just for the noise.

so if you consider that rice so should putting a RFL bov on yer car

I like the sound of my BOV, it's from www.tyfoonmotorsports.com They're a ricer site, but the BOV is $50 and works great. I've used it up to 16psi so far, not a single problem.
