Thumbs up

hey guys, i am getting my engine rebuilt and want to switch over to single turbo in the process. im just wondering what kit you guys would go with. which is the best with the quickest response time. dont need a 500+ beast, but i would like to end up somewhere near 400 rwhp. thanks for any input.

An ebay T70/t3 .84ar(hotside)would probably be cheapest opt with one of there 50mm knock off hks wastegates , or if your looking to spend more a garrett gt35r(1.15ar) or turbonetics 62-1(.81 - .96ar) will do the job. I can make you a stainless manifold to suit any of them if you need one.

You will need to upgrade the ecu also .

A custom kit is defineatly the way to go.

We make complete setups at the shop.

hate to be a pain, but the ebay t3 isn't gonna cut it. a 35r usually comes with a t3 hot side with a max a/r of 1.06. a-spec has a few t4 hot sides, but they charge a LOT for them.

62-1 is a great choice. .81 or 96 if you're undivided, .84 or 1.00 if you're divided. if you've got any portig done, i'd go with a bit larger a/r (1.0+) with a p-trim exhaust wheel. that should do up up about 400whp @ 14-16 psi, depending on other mods.

A friend of mine is using a modified s4 turbo back cut with a t4 front and made 450 rwhp @ 16 psi .

I wouldnt go that way myself cause even with 360 deg thrust bearing it starts smoking after a few thousand ks and needs a rebuild .

Going for a huge ar on turbine housing just means the compressor effiiciency is way up in rpm.

s4 is bigger than a t3 anyway, but we're not just talking about the footprint here. the "ebay" t70 garbage isn't even a t70 compressor. you could do it with a 35r...that's a t3. or you could do a 62-1 with a 1.32 p-trim t3 hot side. as far as the s4 claim to 450whp at 16 psi, i'd have to see it to believe it.

turbine doesn't affect the compressor efficiency--it does what it does. i think you're talking about spoolup and overall efficiency.
