Putting a turbo or supercharger on a car would kill sales and profits. It would obviously cost the buyer more money to get the turbocharged than the N/A model. I would not care about a turbo on a daily driven car. Most turbo'd cars require 93 octane, and with gas prices the way they are, I would want something that uses 89 or below.
The only people that care about a turbo or supercharger are car enthusiasts and people who want a little more boost in there ride. And people on this forum obviously.
Hell, my dads 91 Volvo 940 Turbo still needs 93 octane. I agree with you on the Miata part though, those cars just look ******* bad ***!!

I didnt mean offer only a turbocharged model, but have them both, so that those who prefer the more economical car can still get it. I guess that would boost the price of the turbo'ed vehicle above what it would be if it were the only model tho, because they would be more rare, and each one would be paying for a greater part of the development and implementation of the turbo motor. However, if I get one (which is a possibility once i get out of college), its gonna have a turbo, one way or another
And some pics of each
i dont necesarily think that 2 versions will kill it, but i do think that anymore will. i think that saturn is seen as a cheap econo car, and a somewhat special model like this will just cheapen the image of it, and with it looking almost just the same as the solstice people will catch on that it is the same and will see it as a cheap car.
very true, but i think saturn is trying to change the way people look at their brand..like the ion redline..although the car sucks..is a step up from other saturns..same with the vue redline..so i think they believe this is jsut a stepping stone in raising their status.
I think any car that is FR 2 seats and not made to drive kids to football practice is a very nice thing to see from an american company. You can talk all you want Japan VS american in engineering. But im going to go with Porsche R and D. sorry.
at my auto school we have a like 98 camaro SS...the thing is a terd, and if you think it gives a good driving feel your nuts! hella low end though! American engineering = perfect doughnuts!
there are many differences between a 98 camaro ss and a 2001 camaro ss..diff clutch..more power from the ls6 intake...suspension is diff...diff clutch assembly...there is a world of difference between them.
kinda like the early camaros+firebird...mustangs+cougars...they weren't failures....what makes you think just becuase there are two different version it will kill em? people like choices..plus the majority of people don't know gm owns all of those companies
just because you have a camaro doesnt mean you need to defend every desicion gm has ever made. gm has made some good choices, but they have also made plenty of really bad ones too.

i dont know about the 01, but the 98 is an oil burning, hard to work on pile of crap, with parts prices that make an fd look cheap. we used to run 3 of them out of the shop, all daily driver cars, they all needed 2-3k worth of work just to keep em running. fuel pumps, clutches, rear ends, heater hoses, water pump, distributors etc etc.
) Especially when there are better roadsters out there for cheaper, like the new miata which is like 200 lbs lighter and still has 170 hp stock, as well as the current mazdaspeed miata, Toyota MR-S (altho not as powerful), Lotus Elise (quite a bit more expensive), Honda S2000 (more powerful, a little more expensive), 350Z, 3-series convertible, SLK350 and GM's own (year or two old) Corvette convertible etc. Im glad that GM is finally putting together some decent cheaper RWD cars, but they need to face up to the competition a bit more, throw in a turbo or supercharger or something, and make the car something more special. Building the last Opel Speedster/Vauxhall VX220 off of the elise's chassis was brilliant and created a very desirable car (plus saved GM on R&D), why cant they do it again with the upcoming elise?
Because not everyone can fit into a miata, an MR-S, or an S2000. I cant even sit in the drivers seat of an MR-S, and the miata and S2000 are just a little too cramped for me to be comfortable. That alone is the only thing that kept me from buying an S2000 or a miata.
Im very interested in the sky/solstice. Im hoping they will give me a reason to buy domestic, because I havent been given one yet.

only thing that still sucks would be the rear end...other than that..they fixed most of the problems...and i was just saying that i don't think them selling the car as a saturn will hurt what they are doing..and i've owned a lot of different cars..i don't favor gm. also...ls1s don't have distributors and i think they fucked up when they killed the camaro/firebird to bring a gto that cost a lot more money than a camaro or firebird...and contray to popular belief...i like the new gto...unlike mostly everyone else.

I couldn't bring myself to own a domestic labled car, but then again I wouldn't ever want a European car either.....if it's a front engine rwd Toyota/Lexus, or a rotary mazda I'll take it. For reliable dependable daily driver, any Toyota...that's it.
