Rob, from what I know, all of the 350Z models are under 30 grand, except for the Track model. They slap on some Ray's wheels, Brembos, and some other crap for the extra money.
Track model is almost $35,000, honestly if I could get a loaded Infiniti with the same engine and performance in a nicer package, for $31,000, thats going to take a chunk out of the 350Z, not to mention that the insurance companies might put it in a lower class.
The Infiniti is also taller, longer, and the power is not quite up to the 350Z level. Same engine, but they must tune them differently. Of course, there's always mods...

Pick up the latest Automobile mag for more information on the G35 coupe. It is a nice looking car, but if you're going for all out sporting appeal, then the 350Z is the car.

I would bet my left nut the engines are the same, maybe the exaust is different, but the engines are exactly the same. GM did this years ago with the Vette, Camaro, and Trans Am, they advertised the Vette as higher HP, but when they were put on a wheel dyno, they were all within 10 hp of each other.

the differnece in quoted power was 270 for the infiniti and 280 for the 350... probly exhaust cuz im sure the infiniti is toned down... otherwsie besides some susension tuning im sure theyre equal

in 2004 the new rx7 is coming out. also in 04 there will be two new miata's, one, with pistons, one, nopistons,(just had to do it). i don't think that the Z will be coming out with a turbo version cause it seems that everyone is going all motor. the new supra is gonna be all motor V-8. 450hp. the R35 skyline. same thing V-8 about 450 hp also. the new RX-7 i've heard it was gonna be turbo, but i'd read in motor trend or road & track that it wasn't. there's plenty of cars coming out the next year or two. start saving !!!!
the rx8 is ugly

word on my forum is that nissan will at least release a 3000 car limited edition turbo within two years.

the next skyline's powerplant is still up for debate, but most designers are still telling people it will be a tt v6. (not that the q45's v8 is an impossible candidate)

if the new rx7 isn't turbo then it had better be even prettier than the fd. without the turbo it's going to be as gutless as the rx8.(no tourque **********ers)

unless they had an na rennessis 20b lying around waiting to power the next 7...

I'm with Rob on this one. The G35 coupe looks much better and has an interior package to die for. I'd boost that bitch just like many will do to the new Z. Imagine a beautifull car like the G Coupe at over 500rwhp on a T51R KAI, woowhoooo.

Not too mention the dealer will treat you MUCH better at Infiniti then at Nissan when it comes time for service, and the resale of the Infiniti will be higher.. I dont think the Z will last very long anyhow, neither will the RX-8 in my opinion. They will inflate the prices with each coming year, sell less and less each year, then it will just fade away.

Rob, I think Mazda will have learned their lesson with the 3rd Gen RX-7. They did exactly that with that car; priced themselves out of the market under a burgeoning tide of SUVs and spotty reliability. If they'd sold it for cheaper, it might have sold more and survived the mess.

I PRAY that Mazda won't do the same thing with the RX-8, but only time will tell.
