Well, headgasket blew on the sable. and living 20 miles from where I work and not haveing a car isn't going to work out. So, I went to a little dealership (repo lot) and picked up a 2000 Focus ZX3 for a ok price, and good %. 4.95%. paying for it for 30 months (only way they would finance me with a repo on my credit) and I'm suprized that they are actually peppy. wouldn't call it fast, but not too slow either. Went to fill it up from little under 1/8th tank, and could barely squeeze 10 more gallons in. so far 50 miles, and needle hasn't moved a bit. God it feels good to get decent gas milage. lol

Very nice. I am in the market for a daily driver right now also. Need to get something cheap and reliable. But sort of new. Like a pick up truck would do very well.

This car's actually not too bad. somewhere around 25mpg city. 2.0 16v, 130ish hp. and is small enough to get around in. Was suprised about the ride of this car. had it up to 100 and still felt like I was only doing 55-65.

have some pics >here< if anyone wants to check it out.

Buy a protege, its my daily driver. You can do some mods to it fairly cheap and make it look real nice too. BTW they beat zx3. Well, at least mine beat one that had more engine mods than mine...

i have a 04 focus zx3...5speed....its rated at somethign like 25mpg..but i've been getting 35pmpg lately....just make sure the recalls were done for that year, i believe the fuel pump goes bad and kills the engien all in the same shot. and its fun...handles fairly well for how soft the suspension is

I already bought the car. its an Automatic, so I could care less if its fast, I actually prefere it not being fast. there will be no mods going on it For a LONG time, if ever (probably closer to never moding it, other than maybe suspension and rims). I just want Cheap, comfortable transportation, with good gas milage and this hatchback seemed to have all I needed.

I don't mean to sound like a dick, but if I wanted a faster car I'd just rebuild and port the engine in my 84 GS instead of buying another car.

Brandon, yeah, the fuel pump and Front Coil Springs have 150K mile warranty from Ford, all recals have been performed on my car, and Damn, 35MPG sounds nice.

I have driven in one of the hatchbacks before and raced a stock one. He got me off the line, but I quickly caught up. I hate not having ANY torque at all. Oh yeah, I am bone stock also.

Riding in one was really nice and comfortable, it had quick acceleration, and great handling it seemed. I actually give ford a for making the focus. Now when people put wings and exhaust tips on them, it gets pretty bad.
