Evo's are ugly. They are also ugly. I heard they released an uglier model too. Ugly ugly.

Did I mention I despise Mitsubitchy?

Oh, and evo's are ugly. Just plain ugly.

We've got guys here in Japan running Evo II's and III's boosting 1.5 kilos on the stock engine/stock head gasket/fuel system. Forged pistons = Teh ****.

Friend of mine blew his engine in his Evo II the other day....said it took 5 years of beating the **** out of it to do it. First boosting 1.5 kilos with the stock turbo, then with a TD-06/20G...They take the abuse rather well.
ya, I was wondering why they didn't try to increase displacement to help them in the power department, but I guess you shouldn't screw with a good thing. If they are holding that kind of boost on a stock block, that is just amazing.

jspec, what do you think about the reliability of the wrx?? I've heard people have had a couple problems with them. They are amazing cars, but when it all comes down to it, I'd rather have a car that could take the constant abuse.

I might be in the market for a daily driver before too long, and these two were definatley in the picture. I hate to spend money like that for a car that's slower than my 7, but I guess it is an all around package.

the STI has water-injection as well i think.

and i dunno but evo's performance wise arent to impressive, at least stock, to me. if im gonna buy a heavy *** four door thing i want at least somewhere over 300hp from the thing.

hell the evo's turbo is pushing 19psi just to hit that 281hp mark. at least the sti is only pushin 14psi and still hitting 300hp.

I'm a member of their forum(www.i-club.com) and have been reading up on them. They're definitely a new breed of enthusiasts.

The WRX was blessed with a weak Tranny, whereas the the EVO was blessed with a weak mid-differential. The WRX can't handle boost over 19 psi whereas the EVO is happy with 22 psi on pump gas. The WRX seems to have more places to buy performance parts whereas the EVO is still new to the import community.

If you plan on abusing the car, the EVO is definitely the car to get. The STI can take more abuse than the WRX, but I'm not sure if it can handle the kind of power the EVO can hold.

To me, I like the thought of slapping a big turbo/1.5mm head gasket/stronger clutch on a car and boosting 2.0 kilos on a stock block/fuel system(EVO) than wonder when I'll blow my tranny

The STi also has an extra half liter of displacement over the Evo.

Anyone know what the compression ratios on the Evo and STi are?

evo's are 8.8/1, im gonna check on the wrx

I just found out that the srt-4 has 8.1/1 compression pistons, and that a company in miami offeres a bolt in turbo upgrade that makes it put down 310hp to the wheels, and a little less torque. Thats pretty fukin sick.

Heavy 4-door sedan? I don't think 3200 lbs car is that heavy for a 4-door. It is also very easy to get 300 hp from Evo. Probably downpipe+testpipe and you're in 300hp range
