That will be amost impossible to run 9 with small block and carb. unless a lot of juice and 14 to1 compression. I know a little about mustangs, i own a few of them. this one is into the 9s with 142 streetable.

I have no reason to lie.

There were cars running faster then 9's way before fuel injection.

The car isnt at all streetable, it runs on Sunoco racing fuel that he gets delieverd in 55 gallon drums to his shop. The car has wheelie bars on it, powerglide tranny, 9" narrowed rear , and NO juice, he drives it from his house to his shop that is right up the road from each other now and then to work on it, otherwise he obviously tows it.

With is other engine combo he would occasionly drive it on the street, with that combo he was in the high 9's, not the kind of car you would drive to get groceries, but he would bring it out to the cruise nights and **** like that. Money is not an issue with him, his 37' Outerlimits boat goes 99 mph, everything he does he does fast, lol.

Its a all motor carburated small block, thats the extent of the details he gives out, the whole group of them are very competitive and weird like that. He will let you look at the car all you want, but no details are given!

By the way a stock Cobra R is a low 13 second car, a 13.2, I guess thats not fast either for a "drive-away" , even the Cobra is a low 13 second car, stock.
NSX has alot more style and will likely hand any mustang it's *** in the twisties , similar pricing.

Maybe he meant a Cobra R versus a NSX are similar in price, but I dont know where you can buy a new NSX that cheap either.

People saying that Mustangs arent fast are just being ignorant.

Im not a big Mustang fan, but there are alot more Mustangs out there going faster and being driven on the streets with thier original engines then there are RX-7s, lol

Yeah I know alot more Mustangs were sold but I think people get the point.

As for my friend, if he had a full exaust that was actually quiet, and took the wheelie bars and slicks off the car, he could drive it on the street, but what would be the point?

I can respect a fast car, no matter what it is.

Only people with slow cars talk about handling over speed.

Now that, depends on where you want to be fast.

The Cooper F1 cars (first mid-engine F1 cars) were seriously outpowered but still owned all on the track - because of handling.

For the most part I agree with you though.
