This months Motor Trend has a section about concept cars, future designs, and upcoming models. One article outlines Chrysler's concept car, that they hope will be the new American-built supercar.

quad-turbo 5980cc V-12

142hp per liter

dry-sump oiling

intercooler for each turbo

20 psi of boost

6800 rpm redline

ricardo seven-speed F1-style paddle-shift gearbox

double-disc wet clutch, with 2.55:1 final drive

weight: 2860 lbs.

3.4 lbs. per hp

you wouldn't have to shift out of first until 62 mph

sub-11 1/4 mile

theoretical top speed: 240mph

1.0+ g cornering levels

I'll take 1, please.

Funny thing was, at the car show, they put no effort into displaying it at all. It was on the floor next to an elevated platform featuring the Magnum station wagon. Unless you came in the right side of the display you wouldn't see it at all. Yet I think it was voted best in show by the journalists.

One of the guys from my car club completely missed it.

by the way, in motor trend, this was right after the article about the shelby cobra, ford's 600-hp v-10 concept...very nice.

I think Chrysler should have paid attention to whats happening at Bugatti before they started making claims about a 240mph supercar. With safety and emmission regulations, it's an awful lot harder to make a McClaren today than it was 10 years ago, I very much doubt that car will ever go 240mph. Looks ok though
