If you are in highschool I would consider getting a really nice and clean fc TII. Those things have more than enough power for a 17 year old kid. Have you ever rdriven in a stock FD? If you have, I dunno how you can handle that thing. I would go with a TII or even an N/A and have fun with it. You would be shocked at how powerful a N/A car can be. And I personally like the look of the FC more, it was ahead of its time. It took everybody else years to catch up to it.

AND WHY THE **** WOULD YOU WANT A ******* CORVETTE? They have not changed the main look of the car in over 20 ******* years. At least Mazda changes the look between the FB,FC,FD,and the RX-8.

Go with a TII. Plenty of HP for you,and not too tough to handle. And there are guys running a 400rwhp 2nd gen. As long as you have the time and money.

Just my two cents. Good luck. And don't be ******* stupid.

Guess which car my dad likes to drive more?

He has a slightly modded FD and its faster than his C-5. He gets more looks and comments from people in his FD than in his C-5 because quite honestly nothing says follow the masses or he has no imagination more than a C-5.

An FD says "yeah he knows his cars, he is a true conesuer (SP?) of sports cars."

He is also killing lots of cars ont he road from older Cobra Mustangs to M-3's. He loves that FD and curses me all the time for introducing him to Rotary power. He is as addicted as I am.
Jims.

Your pops should get rid of the Vette, and buy a TII, put a single turbo on it, with streetported engine, all the works.

That would be ******* rocking!!

I really hate corvettes, sorry. Well, except for the ones from the 50's and 60's.

threads like this **** me off. I'm 17 also, I have BOUGHT every vehicle i have owned or own. I never even asked my parents for help because I have more pride in a car that I worked for than one given to me. The only thing that they help me with at all is insurance, and I pay half, but my insurance is only 836 a year.

let me ask you this, do you have a job? if so, what?

First of I didnt ask for it. Second my dad would by a car for me anyway considering its florida where people dont hop on and off subways. I'm not saying I think a kid my age deserves a car like the c5 or fd. I work at my unlces tire shop part time, and on the weekends work with my dad ( real estate) and sometimes go to our buildings and fix up the stuff the tenants have broken, by all means I'm not rich, I'f I get either those cars Ill be driving a nicer car than he does which is a Galant, my other siblings have the average cars nothing spectacular , he knows I love cars and maybe he wants to see me get a car I like, the money that I have saved my parents by helping fix things and the deals that I have helped him with adds up to alot more money as if I bought my car with that part time job. I know its my duty to help my parents and whenever I get that car I will make sure to thank them everyday (especially if its a fd). Nuff said hoped it this cleared it up fo ya.

Whats your problem? Your sayign that if your parents had the means to buy you a vette or fd, you wouldn't take it? I'm also in the same boat as you, i'm 19 and on my 4th car. I've paid for all of my cars and paid the insurance aswell. I worked my *** off to do it, but in the same respect, if my parents offered to buy me a fd or vette and they could afford it, i'd take it in a second. Don't criticize people because they have more money than you.

Everyone has a good point. Bottom line: If you buy it yourself, than you have the total pride of knowing that it's yours, and no one can ever touch it or say **** to you. If your parents buy it for you, than be appreciative, and give credit to where credit is due.

To each their own, I just say one thing, many companies have changed the look of their cars over the years, some for good and some for worse, but an FD ( which is 12 yrs old ) still looks better than most cars out there.
