POS?

GT40 was a pretty sucessful racer back in the late 60's.

"Powered by Ford 427 (7.0 litre) V8 mated to Ford 4-speed transmission.

Induction system: 1 x (later 2 x) Holley 4V carburettor.

Based on standard monocoque chassis but with additional strengthening.

Power output was approximately 485 bhp.

Fitted with Halibrand alloy wheels.

Weight at scrutineering: 2670 lbs.

Mk II won at Le Mans in 1966.

Top speed: 215 mph. "

Not bad for a "POS GT40"

Pretty fast and pretty ahead of its time... also about a 1/5th of what a McClaren costs.....

and this here is a Mirage GT40...

approx 675hp and weighing in at 2453lbs. http://www.gt40.org.uk/Gallery/images/Mira...Restored-08.jpg My guess is this will take out a McClaren!

No it was another kind of car...

Trust me doing a swap into a GT40 (at least a real one) would not be a good idea. Those cars are now worth some nice cash. Doing that would destroy the value of the car. Though when weighing in at 2600 for an MKII and 2400 for a mirage they are light cars. Imagine a 20B in a 2400lb car... much less one that is more or less a race car already!

Yeah, if you're going to spend 100 grand on a GT40, why not get the estra 25 Gs for a Porsche 911 GT2? Those cars are beautiful, classy, and mo'******' FAST. Anything with a blue oval can lick my sack.
actually last time i checked it was about another 75 thousand added on to your figure...but i think it's worth it...

0-60 in 3.6 seconds, fastest production car from 2002

Porsche GT2's are around the 190 Grand to 200 grand range.

The GT40 is Mid engined V8! Though I dont think they have decided on which motor yet. But it does look like it will be a 5.4 DOHC supercharged motor. Which is very capabable of 500hp easily. Those heads flow really well for a factory head. It will most likely also recieve aluminum heads and block with forged internals. So it is a promising car! also if it is anything like the lightning change the blower pulley and pick up 20-30 hp!

Very sweet

Overall the GT40 is also lower than the Porsche. Which will have a higher center of gravity. The old GT40's smoked the porsche's of their day. Winning le mans several times. We all know how well the porsche's do and how well McClaren and such do. But back in the day ford was beating porsche when they competed. Lets see how this latest rendition of a classic does. Yes I am biased but I am open minded. Porsche GT2's are just ******* sweet! But the GT40 is a car that will more than turn heads. Has more than enough power to back up its bark and also will most likely still be more rare than a porsche which in my area I see a fair amount of so they dont seem that special.

Now, lets do our homework officially this time. I was wrong with my 125K figure. Its actually 180 grand, not 125, 190 or 200. That said, its still a fine *** piece of machinery, even at that price.

Ever consider that some don't want to turn heads? The GT2, while not a sleeper, still might pass as a regular 911 to the untrained eye. The GT40 is so in-your-face, it can't possibly be missed. Also, I'm sure you see a bunch of Porsches in your area, but just how many are GT2s? Very few, I'd imagine, if any at all. Most of the Porsches I see around here, even in Seattle and Bellevue, are either standard 911 variants or the Boxster (puke).

with in the past month?

2 GT2's Yellow and black yellow blew its motor

about 6-7 Turbo 911 style....

Countless countless Boxsters...

Yes the GT40 is in your face... But it can aslo be serviced at any ford dealership and the parts (well most) will be a lot cheaper!

Though the porsche is still a badass car... but i hate boxsters... have driven one and give me an FD or mustang any day!
