Bad Day!

I can't think of anything that would make a popping sound then leak water that woun't be connected to the coolant system.
i'd say get a friend who owns a shop or can get the car on a lift and look for your problem youself. I don't like taking things to mechanics, but that's just me. My sister just had to have her oil pan replaced becasue the dealer (yes, the dealer) crossthreaded the oil drain screw last oil change...
I like working on my own cars if I can.
Hope all goes well and i't cheep to fix. I know how this stuff goes. I once replaced two front tires on my first car (merkur) and later that day PING both back tired picked up nails... suck face! The good news is with old(er) cars there is only so much that can get replaced Before you know it you'll have rebuilt the whole care and it'll last quite some time.

you are trying to sound like you are a car savvy woman who knows about everything, but you dont even change your own oil? you said the water was REALLY gross, was it brown? was it thick? if so it might have been oil, power steering, clutch, brake, tranny, any of those if old enough could look like REALLY dirty water.

So could old orange coolant.. If you're not loosing coolant out of the radiator or inside the car itself, I'd just let that go.. I wonder if you had some water built up in an undercarraige tray or something.
Does your 240 have SuperHICAS?

Not saying I'm car savvy....but trying to get that way, yes. I'm not just some girl who thinks are cute little things to get to the mall in. The whole reason I posted this topic was because I had checked everything I could think of, and needed some help. Sorry. And no, I can't change my own oil, I have no place to do it, and personally would rather spend my little free time with my daughter. But hey, at least I know the oil needs to be changed....
And thank you Shane for the tips, I'll be checking what I can tomorrow.
And Sinful, I will chance sounding like a dumbass....what's that?
