I was driving my girls escort last night. I drive it very easy, since it isn't mine. I shifted into 3rd gear and hit the gas and nothing happened? I downshifted back into 2nd and nothing...no power. The car drifted to a stop and died. I still had all electrical power and the engine will crank but will not start.??????????????

I had just filled the tank that morning...so I'm not out of gas. Oil looks fine coolant looks fine. Didn't overheat.

Checked all fuses today...all good. Got spark, Got fuel, Fuel sample didn't look contaminated, Can hear fuel pump, Have all warning lights on dash, nothing looks out of place.

WTF? Any ideas?

How's your Starter? Does it just keep trying to start and never start? Are there any weird noises? What about your tranny, any noticeable problems, clutch stuck, etc..?

Starter is fine. Yeah it just cranks and cranks. I didn't hear any wierd noises or see any smoke or smell anything unusual, either.

Nothing wrong with tranny.

Igniter chip, I had the same problem with my 86 Tempo. I hope your girl gives you the "Don't worry, it happends to all guys" speech. :bigok:
